Here's a cool PSP-2000 mod from Hawk. This particular PSP has been outfitted with a full VU LED display. You might have seen other PSPs with flashing LED displays before, but Hawk says that this one actually uses a VU chip to enable a full VU meter that flashes in sync with sound output. You can check it out at the 1:23 mark in this vid:

The modder has also since added sound-reactive yellow LEDs under each button pad. Aside from the LED meter, Hawk's PSP mod also has a rumble module from Samsung phone. Those interested in a VU meter tutorial can check out the modder's post on the QJ.NET PSP Themes, Mods & Media forum.

» Actually....

It doesn't take alot of power to run mods like that. I mod psp's myself and i've never noticed a massive difference in power usage.

turn rumble off and theres no noticable change in batt life. not running umd games saves loads of power.

» ur era.. got it..

but how about if u use the headset? will the lights still sync with the sound on the headset?

by 0000Hawk0000 - 2009-04-24 00:10
» no

the VU chip takes its signal from the internal speaker.

by pspslim - 2009-04-24 00:24
» oh..

i hope u can make it detect the sound from the mobo or whatever so that headset use will still have the same effect.. really nice modifications though.. u own my respect..

it looks flashy... but it's still useless.

You made that piece of advanced hardware looking like some cheapass toy from china.

Nice skills to solder those SMD parts. but face it. It just sit there and being awesome but it doesn't do a ***** besides flashing.

Do you really want that much attention while gaming in a bus or something?
