Given that you folks seem to have liked our report on AcidMod's right-side analog "Razor Nub" - 98 Jumps - here's an update to that - video update to be precise. Posted by bunyf00f00 on YouTube, this gives us a glimpse of the Razor dual nub prototype for the PSP:

For those of you left out, and have no idea what this was all about here's a refresher: The Razor Nub is an attempt to create a right nub to fit - and more importantly, balance perfectly - with its counterpart on the left side. Judging from the video, they've got a design that meets that goal.

The description that comes with the video notes that the nub is still in its testing phase and is not fully functional at the moment. Do we really care though? We're quite sure that they'll be able to iron out the problems with it in time. What's news here is that so far, it looks amazing. Yes, we're all green with envy.

Hey FOOf00, nice work! (as always)

I think this will be added to the list of things that I'll get you to do for my PSP ;)

I would love his!! I wonder how much it would cost to get installed?

» Foofoo's done it again.

I wonder whats not fully functional about it?

» looks a tad uncomfortable

i think it looks very nice, like it was there the whole time. it looks very professionally done.

to be honest, i hated the position of the single analogue nub so to put the 2nd one in the same spot on the other side would make it twice as bad for me. i prefer the modded ps2 analogue stick that was done a while ago.

Hah, I was playing that earlier. I just got to Chapter 4, and learned about the double-tap-turn thing. Beats me how I survived that long without it. Awesome game though, I love it.

» huh?

Looks cool and everything, but the psp wasn't designed with a right analog stick, so how does this work?

by superpomme - 2007-05-04 03:24
» how

its hard wired into the buttons on th right side so its not true analog but it beats using buttons for it

F00f00 simply is showing you the development stage we are in right now, he is only part of the team that is developing this mod, F00 is the one who gives you guys a peek into what we are working on at the moment, though QJ seems to think that F00 is the one who does everything at AcidMods.

CyberPyrot actually created the concept and the new design, Neubit is making the prototypes for us...

It's not fully functional, because it's still in the prototype phase, we are working out some bugs and working on the actual design before the final production models are made. It works but is not ready for production yet...

i don't know if its me or if anyone else knows anything about this but i don't know how this functions diagonally. let me explain - it looks like from the video that the nub is kinda faulty when it comes to being pushed in a diagonal look point. it looks like the x and y axis of up, down, left, right are possible. but is looking up AND right at the same time not very effective with this nub?

» cool but...

its really cool but it doen't look very persise

like i play gears of war for hours but when i look at this i can't imagine getting a head shot

it moves around to much

you can really aim on one spot that fast and easyily, unlike the xbox360 controller

but still good

hopes it gets better in time

it is more suitible looking then the other 2nd anolog that sticks out at the side
