Some games from the PSOne era are just too irresistible to pass up on your PSP, but sadly, the lack of the L2 and R2 buttons (and, of course, the right-side analog stick) on the handheld somewhat prevents the more sentimental of us to play them.

While there are other ways to map the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons on the PSP, some of us might want to go retro and actually physically have the buttons right there on top. In comes Acid Mods member Electro who shows us how to work around this little problem.

The modder was able to hook up two mini shoulder buttons on the PSP Phat as stand-ins for the L2 and R2. "This MOD is for the fat PSP, but you can do the same on the Slim," clarifies Electro, "Although I would never take my Slim apart. :P"

Check out the little demo vid he's uploaded below. And if you want to get a full tutorial of how to do this for yourself (take note: this mod requires you to do some soldering work right onto the PSP's motherboard, so better be sure you know the risks it entails), you can click the Via link after the video below.

Sorry, might be decent from an accomplishments standpoint, but I don't really feel like having rubber studs looking like they've been glued onto my PSP. Nice try though.

At least it is better than pushing a joystick to the left, right, and up.

But you're right, If they can glue some triggers on the back there, then that would be worthing cutting my PSP apart.
