PS2's analog stick ported to the PSP? |

And my my! Look what he was up to. Once the initial "Yuck! What the heck is that?" feeling dies down, we're sure most of you will be curious to learn how he did it. Well, lucky you, because he has given out really detailed instructions over at Engadget. Here's a snippet of them:
"For part 1 of this project we're going to learn how to attach an analog stick to one of the PSP's internal circuit boards. You can then use this info to build a custom joystick "clip-on" device yourself, or use the steps that will be covered in the upcoming part 2 of this project."
"In part 2 of this amazing saga (coming soon to a website near you -- namely this one) we'll describe a way to make your own custom "snap on" enclosure for the stick so it doesn't look like a dangling pile of crap."
Here's a few more pics of the thing being modded.
We're sure all of you will be curious as to how he managed to do it; whether or not any of you will try it is irrelevant. Besides, we wouldn't really recommend something like this, since it looks ridiculous. But again, the fact that he managed to do something like this is amazing in the first place. it is exactly the same as a ps2 controllers analog stick and you dont have to open up your psp.

No one says it wouldnt be cool to have the PS2 ball socket on the PSP,but this is ridiculous. It simply wont fit and it will be a pain to carry, you need a down sized one you jerk.

What does skill in putting this there matter? People were STUPID in comments because all you read is, "Oh well you can buy replacement nubs" when the whole purpose was to change from the Sliding Analog to a full Ball socket one. The person who made the add-on also talked about how to construct a Snap-on enclosure, which i'm sure is to eliminate the purpose of it being unattatched from the PSP OR DO YOU NOT FUGGIN' READ THE ARTICLES?!
You get on everyday hopeing you get first post and if one person offends you remotely you flame them, I had a reason because people were not understand that it's not talking about switching from A flat nub to a stick, but the entire concept of the analog from simply sliding to rotating.
And I personally like the idea because if you can clip it to the side of the PSP it will allow WAY better control. My thumb slips off in some games, and pressing down on the analog nub also ruins it. Thats the problem with it's design. So I think if it was switched to a PS2 Controller analog games could function more like a PS2 Controller. For it being downsized to fit on the PSP, yeah, I understand. However, thinking outside the box, thats not a problem. If your willing, take it off then put it back on, just like most of the analog mods out there. It's a hassle, sure, but it could work with more effort then just sliding your PSP into the case-thing and shoving it in your pocket.
Again, keyboard spazzed out before I could finish, so ignore 24. I'm open minded and I spread my thoughts, other people were not understanding the concept of the entire project and were acting like idiots FLAMING the guy who made it because they just didn't understand.

look, its quite short of being an eye-sore. 4TM, its short of being FINISHED. Do you know what YOU looked like as a fetus? If not, take a loooong hot bath and shave your entire body including eyebrows. (Hint: Try to finish shaving before your skin wrinkles, but dont get out till it does.) Now fill a nylon stocking full with squished up vienna sausages. NOTE! Save the jelly like substance from each can as you will want to coat your body with a thin layer. This provides a glossy, viscous effect. Ok, hold one end of the stocking up to your belly button leaving the other end dangling. Capture image with digital camera or just stand in view of a mirror.
sorta of the topic but not really:
Dark Alex, how cool that our endless enjoyment is just a bi-product of your intellectual endeavors, hobbies. To me, you contribute to something greater. To revolution of the mind through acknowlegement of the spirit. This goes out to all others as well, who honor their hearts and progress by the forces of love and commitment. Thank you.
