Megaman 2.5D now has a multiplayer video - MegaMan and ProtoMan

For those who haven't heard yet, Mega Man 2.5D is a fan-made project created by Swedish animator Peter Sjostrand. "2.5D" simply means that the game is right between 2D and 3D, taking Sjostrand's definition of 2.5D of course. This new vid came out earlier today, and for those who grew up with Mega Man like me, seeing MegaMan and ProtoMan work together is fangasm at its finest.

The Mega Man 2.5D single player vid came out last March, teasing us a great deal of what the hypothetical game would be like. I say hypothetical, because no playable game has been developed so far.

Man, that brought back ancient memories! I remember I used to take out the big snake mini-boss with Hard Knuckles too! The co-op would be such a nice addition too.

Problem is, this project makes use of "Mega Man," which is of course, Capcom's property. This reminds me of Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes, and we all know how that went. It won't be too far-fetched to expect a CnD order from Capcom soon, but let's hope that they leave this fan project alone.

my eyes popped out of my head, this is the first i have seen or heard of such an amazing game!!!

I swear if Capcom tries to stop them I will abandon that gaming company forever.

I mean no more Street Fighter, Megaman, Devil May Cry, nothing. And I am serious.

I'm amazed. It looks so professional and fun.. and co-op? Sheesh, THIS is a game us MM fans were waiting for! What platform is it for, anyways?

Also, I really hope I'm wrong, but I think that CnD from Capcom is probably already in the mail. I mean just look at it... Capcom wouldn't try to take down a flash game, rom hack, or even MUGEN/BOR creation of MegaMan... but THIS? This fangame actually makes them look bad! Hell if anything, Capcom will send a CnD simply so they can make the game themselves and say it was their idea!

There really is no point destroying non-profitable fan projects. By doing so it makes the fans angry. At least I'm going to boycot Square-Enix a few years unless they save their faces with a new, spectacular Chrono -game. Besides, the fan games keeps the franchise living. For example I am still waiting for Jagged Alliance 3 after the fantastic Jagged Alliance 2: Urban Chaos -fan mod. So, if my wallet can vote, there won't be Dissidia 2.

I'll watch the video later. With PSP I of course cannot.

Holy hell in a handbasket, that looks incredible! I don't even like Megaman at all (even though folk say my last game was similar to a Megaman title), but I really want to play this.

I wouldn't even call it 2.5D. That generally means either 2D sprites in a locked 3D plane, or 3D sprites on a locked 2D plane. This is 2D on a shifting 3D plane, never seen that done like this before! except maybe Pandemonium.

Very good work Sjostrand.

I think that would be pretty sweet if he was able to make protoman and megaman battle each other. Hey and lets step outside the box and make it able to take the bosses and have them fight each other. haha fireman vs. iceman i would like to see that. Make it adhoc or infenstructure (god i cant spell that word)

this is such a masterpiece. I wish he at least leak us the files for us to play it. haha. or maybe capcom should hire him, they'll make big bucks for this game. hmmmm i was just thinking how this game would look on a 1080p HDTV. hahaha. nevertheless, this SHOULD be released whatever the cost. Even someone who is not a MM fan would definitely like this. So unique.

Now this is something that they should do on older games too like Super Mario Bros 3.

First of all, Capcom is pretty good about letting fanmade stuff fly as long as they don't make money off of it. (Eddie Lebron is proof of this as he got their blessing for his movie).

Second, this isn't even a game, it's a 3-D animation made using autodesk software.

Third, Why would capcom send a CnD to someone making an animation of their game?

Capcom has already written two times about this "very cool" fan-made game in their official blog.

They're very open to it and they WON'T send out a CnD.

anyone that thinks this is real is a moron. This isn't even a game nor will it ever be. Quit gettiing your hopes up. I mostly blame the media which is hyping this beyond belief.

IT'S JUST AN ANIMATION, FOLKS. IT'S NOT GOING TO BE MADE.

# You're only half right..HenshinMijin 2009-06-01 03:41
Yea, it's only a concept animation. But saying it's NEVER going to be made is F'ed up!

If some programmers step-up to the challenge, this can be the REAL deal! Let's hope for that!
