Cranberry Publishing Ltd. is responsible for providing free magazines to Xbox 360 gamers (360Zine) and PC enthusiasts (PCGZine). Because of the warm welcome being enjoyed by the two, the publishing company decided to make another one called HGZine for PSP and DS users as well as for mobile phone owners.

The editor of the HGZine is Keith Stuart. Readers of magazine EDGE probably know a lot about him as he previously worked there. Stuart assured future readers that their team is composed of professional games journalists so they can expect editorial values and beautiful, readable design of a print publication. He commented,

As an avid handheld gamer myself, it's great fun to edit a magazine dedicated to DS, PSP and mobile games. They're usually herded to the back of multiformat print mags and never given the attention they deserve. It's time to redress the balance.

HGZine is published in PDF format, and Issue 1 can be downloaded via the Read link below. Aside from the embedded videos and interactive multimedia, readers can also expect the following:
  • HGZine Issue 1 - Image 1Review of Sid Meier's Pirates (PSP)
  • Review of Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 (DS)
  • Review of Ghost Rider (PSP)
  • Review of Castlevania (DS)
  • Preview of Driver 76 (PSP)
  • Preview of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (DS)
  • Preview of Zelda Phantom Hourglass (DS)
  • Preview of Call of Duty RTV (PSP).
  • Interview with the Senior Producer of Burnout Dominator
