I bet you guys have been waiting for news about the eagerly anticipated Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, and why not? The first game on the PSP was one of the best-selling titles, and knowing Rockstar, it would be foolish to expect anything but greatness. Well, we've got some news and info which you guys might be happy to look at. All these details were published in Gamepro, an Australian gaming mag. Firstly, here are the screenshots I'm talking about.
And finally, the details about the game and its story:
- You'll be playing as Victor Vance - Lance's brother.
- Victor, and his brother Lance, will be playing a big part in Vice City Stories. He's seen in the opening scene of GTA: Vice City, as he get killed by a SWAT team.
- The game takes place in 1984 - two years before GTA: Vice City
- Victor is a 28 year-old US Marine
- Players can now take on the water of Vice City With jet ski's!
- The animations are more life-like and is a ''step-up from previous titles in the series''
- A multiplayer feature similar to the PSP version of LCS is in the game
- VCS is ''much, much bigger than Vice City''
- Some landmarks are half-built or yet to be refurbished to their state circa 1986
- There's new or altered locations and buildings
- All new vehicles and weapons
- You can fly helicopters!
- Radio stations from Vice City make a return
- New weather effects that could include hurricanes
- You can swim in the game!
- Bikes handle better than before
- There's also no more seamless exterior-to-interior gameplay as seen in LCS (There'll be a slight loading time)
- A new addition in Vice City is the chunder-wheel, which you can ride in first-person view!
- Binoculars is in the game
- LCS is ''rookie first-gen PSP title compared to VCS''
- Draw distance is great and is said to be better than Vice City on PS2
- Trip skips make a return (If you die or get busted a taxi will take you back to the location where you received the mission from)
- New animations which give both the lead characters and pedestrians a whole new degree of humanity
- Far richer color palette that brings sunsets to all new levels of beauty, and realism
- Increased density of pedestrians, cars and objects
- Reduction in clumping (where groups of the same model type appear together)
- Far more interiors that its predecessors
- So far there's no word on character and vehicle customization, as well as wall climbing.

I cant wait for the game, it will be great. And i like that we can swim in water, that was enabled in San Andreas on PC first.
This game looks to be *****in sweet. I knew Rockstar didn't unlock the full potential of the PSP yet.

Now when it says "VCS will be much bigger than Vice City" does that mean, a bigger city, or just a bigger more deep game?
@15 - no, they cannot come out with an unhackable fw really because there will always be some human error (assuming that is what makes up the Sony corp.) that someone else may find in the fw. sure the security is much tougher, but "the bigger they are, the harder they fall"

If you'll be able to customize you're character, it will be PERFECT for the PSP. But if not, then just add climbing. Climbing is cool. Makes it easier to escape AND more realistic.

hope it only needs firmware 2.71 so u can use devhook with it. or hope devhook can emulate whatever firmware it needs

Im sure Booster would find a way to crack the new firmware, and Sony asks why people dont buy their games. Simply because most of them suck. Rockstar is one of the only developers to put effort into the PSP, and Vice City Stories shows it. I personally cant wait for this game, its going to PWN so bad. HELLZ YEA

rockstar knows how to make money, what helped sell LCS? the eloader exploit. even though that exploit is blocked now, rockstar might be able to do it again, and once its found people who upgraded will go buy vcs and thus boost sales for rockstar

Clearly the devs are putting major effort into this game to have such features and all you can talk about is being able to play it for free.
I will definately want to be finding a way to play this through Devhook but I will also be purchasing a copy simply to show my support. This game will be worth buying whether you can get it for free or not.

I have always thought that there should of been a jet ski in the orignal VC and maybes wind surfers.

As for VCS, it's looking to be a great game, unlike LCS (man, that game bored the crap out of me!). I must say, Vice City is my favourite location so far, far more enjoyable than Liberty City without the unmanageable map size of San Andreas.

Yes the first GTA to allow swimming was GTA:SA. But the PS2 version came out before the PC version. So the first GTA game to allow swimming was GTA:SA for PS2 followed by GTA:SA for PC.

This game sounds much better than GTA:LCS, though I do not regret buying GTA:LCS on release date for the downgrade feature.
If devhook is not emulating the required fw, I will just have to wait for it to come out PS2 because I'm very sure it will. All you morons bragging about iso's, stfu and quit ruining the homebrew scene. On second thought, downloading it for evaluation only might be ok.

No of course victor does'nt !!!! He dies two years later in the original vice city in the drug deal at the start of the game!

The Datsun 260Z is awesome. Inline 6. **SUPER** light weight body/chassis. beats out all of these little tuners, and beats all american muscle cars EASY (them especially). new cars take it on the start, ofcourse, all thre low end power, 260Z picks right back up 2nd to 3rd gear, then take sthe lead and keeps going. Datsuns are awesome(Nissan is the actual maker of Datsun, same company)! All Z cars are great, 260Z will even beat out its predecessor, the 280Z and 300ZX. On account its just so light!. Z!!!!

Completed the first GTA in the same day i got it so this better be longer! Oh and it would be cool if the mission set up would change every time u start a new game! So wont get boring!
