Undead Knights developer hearts PSP: it's for real gamers |
Ó
The devs of the mysterious Undead Knights title, Tachyon Crew at Tecmo, have come out for an interview, and here they professed their love for the PSP, characterizing it as handheld that's made for "real gamers".Says Kohei Shibata, "With the PSP versus the DS, it just seems like the DS lends more toward the casual gamers, and I'm not sure if the real gamers are there [wanting] an action gameplay experience."
As for what's important in game creation:
The most important thing, I think, is to be able to deliver a gameplay experience that's not just your typical action hack-and-slash, 'kill your enemies and move forward' game; there needs to be some sort of twist to an action game.
Interesting thoughts, don't you think? You can find out more about Shibata's disposition in the full interview via the source link below.

I agree completely
Agreed. That whole quote.
Nice to see a developer recognise that the PSP is a gamers machine. If only Sony weren't so terrified of the casual market - personally I'd like to see an advert featuring a nice family playing the Wii destroyed by a tank-shaped PS3 using PSP shaped shells with the message: F**k casual, we're hardcore!
I'd buy another one.
Disclaimer: I'm not seriously suggesting killing Wii owners, I own one myself. Just in case people start getting offended... ^^;
WII is so amazing i love it i definitly play it much more then my bad ps3 and psp, just joking i am so bored of my wii im glad i bought my ps and psp
Of course PSP is for "REAL gamers"; stupid nintendo and their kiddie stuff
all my friends ever play on their DSes are puzzle games and ryhthm games -.-
someone should make a gake commercial like this one be a youtube phenomenom great idea Acteon
The PSP is TOTALLY the home of a TON of hard core titles that are neither ports nor remakes like, uhh... hmm...
Judging from a few of the posts already here, "hard core" still means blood n' guts, while the only textures allowed that are brighter than rust must be used for... blood n' guts and explosions. Meanwhile, the only PSP games that can keep me interested are MHF2 and Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. GTA, MGS:PO, Loco Roco (OHMAGUD IS THAT CASUAL!?!?), etc. all wore out their welcome fast. I should actually call my PSP an Emulation Station Portable... That's actually kinda catchy.
