Trophies on the PSP: Technical difficulties make it challenging |

In an interview with PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Yoshida was asked if the PSP will ever see the light of day when Trophies abound and roam the handheld free. His initial answer almost raised up hopes. Almost.
"It's under discussion," he started. "But there are some technical challenges." These may be overcome anyway, right? Right? Hello?
Okay, while there's nothing else to say about the issue of trophies on the PSP, he did veer the discussion to the motion controller and the availability of games at launch, including their target audience.
Obviously we are looking at the ease of use of the motion controller to attract a broader audience, but when we work this new technology, because it's so precise, we can see a lot of functions for core gamers' games. Like a first-person shooter would be great, walking around a room ducking and hiding. We're looking at all kinds of possibilities.
Okay, that sounds great. Now back to the trophies.
Hello?

The way I see it, the problem comes with downloading other people's game saves and such homebrew plugins as CWCheat or NitePR.
Let's imagine that you're playing a platform game, and you would get a trophy for getting on top of a hill by jumping from platform to platform. Now, with an application such as CWCheat, you could possibly just fly on top of the hill, or even teleport there, etc.
Obviously another problem would be that the PSP games available now would need to be updated to allow trophies, but that isn't possible for most of them. They could probably also be re-released, but that would just annoy users who already have the game.
Another option would be to add trophies to every game released after the PSP Go has come out.. or something similar.
Just my 1,99 cents.
