In a recent interview, Jack Tretton - CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America - talks about how the PlayStation Network is competing effectively against Xbox Live, how Home is like "nothing seen before" and perhaps a hint of a direct media download service for the PSP.
Last month, Robbie Back of Microsoft commented that Xbox Live doesn't have any competition in online services and Tretton's comment on the subject may be in direct contrast saying:
We compete very effectively right now. The thing that we care most about and what is relative to our online experience is that we currently have 3 million users and they have downloaded 60 million pieces of content.
When asked how PlayStation Home will be able to pull in users when there are so many other social networks out there, Tretton comments that Home is "like nothing seen before":
There has never been a 3D based community for a console system with such a rich media interface, with streaming video, and with complex environments. Given that we have our own network, that every device we sell has a built in hard drive, we have an opportunity to do things with and for the consumer like nothing that has been done before.
As perhaps a hint of things to come for the PSP, Tretton answered a question of whether the PSP will be offering a direct music and video download service for the PSP. Tretton answered this saying:
Given we're a division of Sony you can expect that we will deliver a video download service that offer music and video directly for download as well as other things. In terms of delivery and content of that service, those details will come as we get closer to launch.

Just an honest question.

estimate(6 million people * 50$ =tree hundred million a year
and they don't use that money for the 360 users and their even restricting on how silver members get their content. Waiting over a week for a demo just so you get annoyed and buy the gold membership

Hacker, perhaps?

MY son was disappointed that he couldn't download the demo, but I sat down and explained to him how Microsoft appeared to be restricting access to demos in an attempt to get Gold subscription money. He instantly got it and I could tell (from the look in his face, and how he turned off the 360 and turned on the PS3) that he completely understood that it was a move Microsoft made for nothing other than the love of money.
He's six.
If others his age see through these 'bold' marketting moves, Microsoft has maybe 15 more years or so until they're a medium sized company.

some of us have been thinking that it's either a bug or people just really are jumping up those ancient articles (PSP 1.50 FTW!). besides, some people tend to get sentimental reading those old news items and seeing how far we've come. hehehe!
don't worry though, we're currently investigating the matter, and thanks for pointing it out all the same. ^_^
