Well, it didn't take long for Ewan and the folks over at The Podcast Network to put out their next episode of The PSP Show! And who can blame them when they have such a captivating and provocative guest to interview as they did this time... me! That's right, now's your chance to hear what goes through our heads here at PSPUpdates and QJ.NET - you've been warned!

Ewan and I sat down and talked about a couple of things, one of them being my personal response to The PSP Show #4 which seemed to set a few of the serious homebrew enthusiasts out there on edge. Also on the table was discussion about the current and future state of affairs with the PSP, Sony's new demo download approach, and of course what's going on here at QJ.NET.

So check it out, if you dare!

Great podcast, nice to hear that im not the only who thinks sony is a total ***** when it comes to thei blocking of homebrew.

I dont really get why you think that DS has got better games though :/ Indeed some of the PSP games are not intended to be portalable, but so are some of the games on the DS.

Anyway first podcast i've listen to fra the PSP show, but it won't be the last i promise you that ;)

When I downloaded it, it came up as 3.05mb, and 4mins, 23 seconds long.

I'm sure it's just a bad experience on my part, but i was wondering where the rest of the podcasts are.

I liked the interview, although I didn't quite follow his calculations on how over 200,000 downloads of the 2.0 exploit equals only 35,000 people interested in homebrew. I have listened to a number of his psp podcasts and I don't mind his accent but that could be because I spent most of my life living in England up until just about a year ago. Lastly did he say that the ability to download demos of games are what turned the popularity of the N-Gage around? Because I thought that thing was a total flop or am I wrong? Because I just saw about three or four brand new ones in a bin at gamestop for like 25 bucks and the games were 4.99.

Some poitns for #6. The assumition on the 200K downlaods giving 50K serious homebrew users (Jake talked me up to the higher number later) is based on the fact that not everyone who experiments with homebrew will carry on using it, or jump through all the hoops required to continue to use it. The rule of thumb (and fgiven I;ve been in software distro for varios areas) is that SDK's have around a 1% user to downlaod ration, shareware is around 2% and freeware is around 15-20%. So I pegged homebrew at a freeware level, but even higher, at 25%, still laves us 50K.

The N-Gage is certainly percieved in the media as a flop, but it's sold over close to 3 million units, while not PSP numbers thats still great for a non-big player. The finaces don;t have n-Gage as a loss for Nokia (I run www.allaboutngage.com so I do know what I'm talking about) and the games are selling well online.

It's also the cheapest beta test for Nokia R and D for nerwer phones!

Thank you for clearing that up, I understand now where you got your numbers. Also on the subject of the Ngage I guess I just thought it was a flop because I listened to the media bash it left and right. Sorry if I was mistaken just shows that the media isn't always right :)
