Sony job listing hints at LittleBigPlanet for PSP - Image 1A new job listing on the SCEE website says that they're looking for a new PSP game engine lead to work on the development of LittleBigPlanetprojects.

If you remember, a rumor popped up a few months ago saying that Sony Studio Liverpool is working on the PSP version of the game. So are the sackboys going portable?

Assuming we take this job listing point blank, and say there is a LittleBigPlanet project coming for the PSP, what can we expect? An entirely new creation game based on the PS3 version perhaps (downsized for the PSP of course), or some extension of the PS3 game for the PSP?

All speculation for now, but any iteration of the game on the PSP sounds good to me.

*UPDATE*

It's a rumor no longer! Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy reveals that there are indeed talks of a PSP version for LittleBigPlanet, but nothing is concrete at the moment.

He does say how he imagines how LittleBigPlanet would appear on the PSP, saying that it would be a companion product that will "allow you to create things while you're on the train." He adds:

One thing that I'd love to add is the ability to create you're own music, for example, that you can import into the game. That seems like an obvious one to do and it'd be quite easy really.

If the PSP version will indeed pull through, it sounds like it'll be a fine companion product for the game.

» Hmm

What if this means something along the lines of Remote Play?

Just my thought on the matter...

PSP Little Big Planet would be cool though.

» but

it would be nice if they made a port with some changes. and also made it so that this will let you transfer game saves from one psp to ps3 and continue playing.

» yeah

that is an awesome idea - being able to transfer data between the PS3 and PSP, like when you have to go on a roadtrip or something..sounds neato.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

» mmmm

how about

-- get the creation mode on the ps3 correct first, some of the logic just doesnt add up, things dont do as they are meant to, add more features, such as emit once a switch is hit, FOR GOD DAMMIT

and more more more more more

anyway how about importing pics first, at the mo you can only use PSEYE

i thought this would be just another game, then i played it for 2 days and thought WOW amazing, but then i realised the creation mode is absolutely useless (how about external scripting, id highly like that), IT IS JUST ANOTHER GAME, ONCE YOU GET TO THE HEART OF IT

its got potential through simple patches, nothing major is required, but they need to get the simple things sorted

add more switch funcitonality to the creation mode,

use do know the basics of programming is IF SOMETHING DO THIS

how can you do it if not all objects support it

How about...

It's a DEMO.

by emcp - 2008-10-01 06:27
» mmm

how about its not a demo, its a online beta of an old build

until im told of these fixes, i highly doubt theyve fixed everything wrong with it, i wont be satisfied

once all patches etc, and if it has a decent ranking system, then i might buy it further down the line

» Well....

The devs own words said that "The beta almost seems like a completely different game from the final version, due to all the changes we've made"

» I'm not so sure about remote play.

Before I got a PSP I thought remote play would be incredibly awesome. I don't currently have a game that supports it, but with the experience that I do have with it, even sitting right next to the PS3 and at any settings it seems to be pretty laggy and has frequent audio skips. I could be wrong, but I think that remote play was an awesome idea that was just a little ahead of the wireless hardware's capabilities. If LBP does support remote play these issues might not really be that big of a deal, but in other games that require quick action it would be a big issue.

» Uhhhhh

Remote play is just a crappy gimmick sony used to link both PSP & PS3 together, it hardly works on a connection that isn't super speedy and you need your PS3 system turned on & connected the whole time you plan on using remote play.... it just isn't worth the hastle....

I like the idea of using the PSP version as it's own little big game which data can be used with the PS3 version and visa versa.... you know like, building a level on the way home from work/school or where ever & then playing it on the PS3... Also the PSP has Adhoc so playing with 4 people who are in the same room would be pretty awesome too....

Stop *****ing about the Beta guys.... it's going to have problems, it's not going to be perfect... it's a BETA!!!! and I'm sure you all know it's an old build, so whats the fuss about...? We still have 20 odd days till release.... not that long, have some patience and faith in MM to get this game working and looking like the best title this decade....
