SCEA director John Hight recently revealed several new developments for the PlayStation 3 (and to a lesser extent, the PSP) in a recent interview with Gamasutra, including news on a PS Store makeover and a new Warhawk update.

First up, the big news. Hight reveals that the PS Store will have several major changes based on customer feedback. The PS Store will get a new interface as well as other improvements:

Simplification, cutting down on the number of mouse clicks, making it easier to find stuff that you want to find... that's kind of an outgrowth of us having more content now, so we have to make sure that you can get at it easily.

There have been unconfirmed reports that the big makeover will be on April 15. Other sources indicate that the change is "said to give it a look more in tune with [SingStar's] SingStore." In our hearts, we hope this also has something to do with Home's release.

Hight also indicated that there will be an expansion for Warhawk in April. He only said this in passing though, so we don't have any other info other than the month, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on it.

More on the PS Store: Hight remarked that he is "pretty darn sure" that Japanese titles will soon be making their way into the PlayStation Store, although he doesn't know which ones yet. Although we could probably expect them around the same time as the makeover.

One frustratingly-sparse-in-detail info is that we'll probably be seeing more original content for the PSP that can be downloaded from the PS3. Hight says that they have "a couple [...] in concept phase right now" but that's about as much as he talked about it.

It should look the same for HDTV & SDTV owners compared to the other one which changed the appearance depending on what TV you have and I know a lot of people complained about that.

I hope they keep a more HD specific version and leave the SD version to fend for what little space it has. Why not use the extra room to make it better? Forcing the HD version to be the same as the SD version for no apparent good reason would be a very bad move.

As it stands there are TONS of unneeded clicks. Not sure why they made it into a production environment but I'm glad to see they're taking care of it.

i just hope they take a page out of microsoft's book and make the store integrated into the ps3 firmware. Part of the reason why it takes so long to navigate the store is that it has to load each page through the internet.

It seems that ps3 owners have somthing else to cheer about. They claim that '08 will be the year sony busts out, we have great potential and sales have backed it up so far. I give it a year and a half before we hear rumors of a new microsoft product.

Don't change the look, Get some more freaking titles on there, for christ sake. Its sad how the Japanese PS store has more $hit than the rest of the PS store. Hey i like the way it is to be honest, if it had more titles and games that people want, im sure the look of it wouldn't matter.

Final Fantasy 7,8,9 are the 3 big ones that people want to play that im hearing from. Get more freaking titles change the look of it months later. Stop procrastinating . Sony.
