Loco Roco

Yes! Those wonderful, singing, yellow blobs of joy and happiness are bound to make a comeback, and that's coming straight from the horse's Phil Harrison's mouth.

In a recent interview with MTV, the Sony Computer Entertainment President (after a couple of swipes at other competing consoles and handhelds *cough*) made the revelation that they are indeed planning to bring back Loco Roco. To quote a passage from the interview:

Did he have any year-end thoughts on perhaps the most unconventional game Sony published this year, "LocoRoco"?

"It was a very successful game for us and we're continuing to evolve the franchise," he said. "We're going to bring 'LocoRoco' back in a couple of new ways with some new friends in the future."

So there you have it. Loco and Friends sounds pretty good to us, and considering the fact that the staff behind it is capable of generating new content and new levels for the game as proven by their Halloween and Christmas specials, then we feel that there's a whole lot more happiness to look forward to.

» I find it refreshing but...

Alright. LocoRoco - it's good, clean fun. It's a game that I wouldn't mind a four year old to play - if they so wished. I find it nice that there is a lack of violence, sex, and depressing content. That's wonderful.

Now here is what I think of a sequel - $#!7

Do they think that they tapped the market or something? If they offered 2x the downloadable levels, new songs, new locorocos, and some more promotion there would be so many more loco roco fans that they would make insane profit. A sequel makes the general public think - oh, I could buy the first one but I think i'll wait for the next one, it should be better. And it makes the origional owners think - crap, I was liking the idea of downloadable content on the psp - they are just going to support the next game in six months, i'm not paying for the same thing again when I was promised downloads.

Is it me or is the creators of LocoRoco milking it for all it has?

just because it doesn't have the best graphics or involves killing something, that doesn't mean it's a bad game. I actually find it to be a simple but addictive game.
