PopCap planning console release for Plants vs. Zombies |
Ó

Plants vs. Zombies, released for PC and Mac a couple of months ago, is a quirky little tower defense game from PopCap Games that has players using plants to defend their house against a zombie invasion. If that sounds right up your alley, then here's some good news.
Garth Chouteau, Senior Director of Public Relations at PopCap Games, has intimated to Kombo that a console and handheld outing may lie in Plants vs. Zombies' future:
Peggle for XBLA is a good example of a game that we took that was popular on the PC and we spent probably twice as long as anyone else would have figuring how to make that game really good for Xbox and Xbox Live Arcade, and I think you will see that with Plants Vs. Zombies -- I don't know the exact order in which that game will make its way onto other platforms, but it's certainly been successful enough, quickly enough, that we're looking at other platforms and deciding where we'll take that game next.
Choteau also revealed that PopCap currently has multiple titles in the works for DSi, Xbox 360 and PSN. They're also starting to branch out to Wii development.

Great game. But playing it with a controller?
Thats going to make the game a lot harder.
Actually, that might make it easier. One thing I dont like about the game is you have to always select from above before you place below.
Imagine selecting once then PLACE PLACE PLACE PLACE... uses two buttons to scroll through the item you want then use the direction pad to place them.
I hope they speed up the gameplay. I've been watching youtube videos on this game and it looks to be annoyingly slow paced.
As with most games, the begining levels are pretty slow. But they're supposed to be. As the game moves along, it gets VERY HECTIC!!!
Well this game is really popular in our class recently.Almost everyone plays it on their free time.
If it is transplanted to ds, the way to play seems not have many changes...
ISOHaven, you can't really "Place place place place" in that game because once you set something down, you have to wait for that item to refill before putting it down again. Which means you would have to scroll back and forth just like on a PC (or mac).
Dude, wtf are you on? I watched vids of the later levels and it was the same pace as the first set.
It does get hectic. I have the game. It starts out with a little bit of zombies in the beginning of the game. To hordes of Zombies. And they arent the same old zombies, they get tougher.
You obviously haven't played the game much. Or you haven't played it right, or you haven't bought a certain item from the store that allows for massive sunlight generation.
It is possible to have LOTS of sunlight at any certain point and actually WANT to spend it faster.
So my comment stands.
@m3rox - Because as we all know, watching on the sidelines is EXACTLY the same as actually playing.
