Errrm, no, not *that* kind of full-on action.

Everyone wants a piece of Lara Croft. More recently, Square Enix claimed rights over her. But over in the movie industry, Dan Lin has producer rights over the next Tomb Raider movie, and from what he says, it's going to be a reboot. Oh don't act all surprised - we heard earlier that the new movie will be getting a fresh start.

In an interview during the premiere of Dan Lin's latest movie, Terminator: Salvation (he's producer and also calls it a reboot of the series - sort of), he talks about the changes they're planning for Lara's next adventure.

Yeah, we're rebooting Lara Croft also - very excited. It's a great origins story that we're gonna tell, a very character-oriented - I would say more realistic than the past Lara Croft movies.

It is an origins story, so it is a younger Lara Croft. It's not full-on action, I would say it's like Terminator - it's character-driven action. And I think for me, the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action but with character.

The way he talks about the movie, it sounds like Paramount Pictures is in pre-production planning phases already - with storyboards sketched out and scenes planned for. He also reveals that they haven't casted anyone for Lara Croft yet - definitely won't be Angelina Jolie since it's a younger Croft.

But yes, I do agree with his concept of rebootiness. Look at BSG. Look at Dark Knight. Yes, there was a lot of action, but compared to the orginals, those reboots have gone for a very strong character-driven direction.

You guys might want to watch the full interview through the source link below. Dan Lin talks more about rebooting Terminator, and - hey I didn't know they were also rebooting Sherlock Holmes into a movie!

So, any ideas you can pitch around for a young Miss Croft? The question is... how young is young? Are we talking Dakota Fanning young? No friccin' way.

Why not turn tomb raider into Hanna Montana? Then you can have an excuse to replace Angelina Jolie with someone younger/hotter *Laura Croft doesn't have kids* AND you can pull in the tween audience with a younger, hipper character they "relate" to.
