MotorStorm: Arctic Edge - Image 1
This game is gonna be so cool... it's gonna be hawt!

I'm getting a bit of deja vu here. Is it just me or is BigBig Studios' Richard Ogden repeating himself too much lately? Talking about MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, he once again squeezes out some hype juice to promote the upcoming racer.

From his perspective, Arctic Edge could possibly generate the best visuals we've seen out of a PSP since forever and a half. Mmm, yeah, never mind Crisis Core and GoW: Chains. Arctic Edge is where it's at. Talking about competition, he states:

I'm pretty confident. Obviously I've not seen a lot else that's coming out this year, but I do think from revamping and revising our engine we're definitely squeezing more out of it.

It's the same engine we used on Pursuit Force One and Two, so we've taken our knowledge and moved forward from there. It's kind of honed in if you like. I'm hoping people will look at it as one of the best looking PSP games, if not the best looking PSP game, ever, maybe this year.

While there's no fault in promoting your own baby project, all this hype doesn't amount to nothing just yet until we see some actual in-game footage so we can see for ourselves this whole "pushing the PSP to its limit" talk. All eyes on E3, then!

Pretty bold statement, sure. But that's to be expected.

To this day every time I play God of War, after time I forget I'm playing on a PSP the graphics are so good.

Thats the great thing about racing games - it's easy to have them look amazing. Especially fast ones where you don't need to have detailed textures, and a racing game set in an icy tundra? These guys ticked all the boxes to make something spectacular looking because there isn't much to see!

Take GT Prologue. Damn thing looks almost real but no modelled human looks completely realistic yet.

Anyways I'm looking forward to this.

» it seems to me

as he does not know what he's talking about...

there's no way it would have the best graphics.....that's crisis core...

and for 1 good reason: it's cutscenes use super high quality models in small areas. it's a trick used by square since ff10/kingdom hearts.

this game is a race game: wide areas means less power left for ultra beautiful graphics...

and i don't see this game having cutscenes like CC.

also i find motorstorm is a pretty uninspired racegame if you ask me.

but most racegames are nowadays. :/

i miss the old days
