Loco Roco - Image 1Tsutomu Kouno, the mind behind the cult hit Loco Roco for the PSP, recently sat down with Games Industry to chat more about the upcoming sequel - as well as life after the phenomenon, and a few other things besides. We're here to give you the skinny on everything that's cute, squishy and sings in gibberish.

Tsutomu started things off by saying how pleasantly surprised he was about the general reaction to Loco Roco, particularly from fans outside Japan - he didn't know that it would even be received as warmly as it had been until the game was already released.

It turns out, however, that despite Loco Roco's wholesome nature, it wasn't exempt from individuals much more intent on pointing out the 'evils' of videogames, with one reporter citing that the black Moja characters in Loco Roco were racist.

Tsutomu replied to this allegation with the confession that he didn't think it was a big thing at first, and he apologized for the ruckus it's caused. He went on to say that in fact, he loved the black mojas, considering them the coolest in Loco Roco's roster of multi-colored singing beacons of happiness.

When squeezed for information about the upcoming sequel, Tsutomu was a bit snippy with the details, neither confirming nor denying if the game would only be exclusive to the PSP or the PS3. He did say, however, that he's not much interested in making a game for the Wii, seeing more potential in the EyeToy camera. He elaborates by saying that instead of having a controller be the bridge for motion-sensing gameplay, the EyeToy can instead make your whole body that bridge - thereby removing the controller in the equation and making gameplay that much more active and real.

Bad news for Wii owners looking for a Loco Roco title coming over to Ninty's console, but extremely good news for Loco Roco fans worldwide. Updates as we get them - and in the meantime, you can check out the entire interview by clicking on the read link below.

» LOL....

Racist? Only someone who is a racist themselves would make that kind of comment! What, we can't use black monsters anymore because that is racist?!? Maybe it would have been fine if they were white instead...but no because that would be racist against the white people... What this game really must be saying is that yellow people are the best!....riiiight. He should have never apologized for that...whoever made that comment is an idiot and I hope they know it.

WTF is wrong with this dirty Ni Ggars?!

They think everything is racist, yet they rape non-black girls because they hate their own and are in love with the beauty of non-black girls.

I know black girls are just as hideous as the black guys, but they should stick to their own; shi t sticks on shi t. ;)

the black mojos were considered by many to be racist because they contained several easily identifiable physical ethnic stereotypes, their dominant colour, their facial features, their hair and their voices. this is not to say that the intent was to cause offence or make a racist comment. however, ignorance is no defence, even when this ignorance is at a cultural/corporate/national level. i feel sorry for the user 'yea!' i really do. he clearly hates himself and all the women he meets feel the same way about him as well. it's probably his tiny little *****...
