John Koller has revealed a few more things about the PSP's recently-announced lineup in an interview with MTV Multiplayer. Nothing really big concerning the already revealed titles was announced in the interview apart from Assassin's Creed being a "completely different game, unique to the PSP", but Koller says that all we've heard is just the tip of the iceberg:

The announcements we made are half the story. There's another half still to be announced in the next couple of months-slash E3. A lot of first and third-party titles that are coming in the back half of the year want to hold their announcement until E3 timeframe. There's a few pretty 'majors' coming still in that franchise line, but we wanted to whet people's appetite.

Whoo! Consider our appetites whetted, Mr. Koller. Honestly, I had started to think that Sony's "2009 is the year of the PSP" line was nothing more than that - a line - so I'm really glad that they're finally moving to turn it into a reality. Keep checking back here for more PSP updates. If you're looking for other people to discuss the upcoming games with, drop by the PSP section in our forums.

Good, it's about time the PSP took some spotlight, even if they are now just PS3 ports rather than PS1/PS2.

All I want now is a FFVII remake, LocoRoco 3, LBP, MotorStorm, a new Burnout and a slew of decent RPGs. If they can pull that off the future is indeed rosey.

» PSP is already starting off great in 2009

Last year the PSP got alot of good games, but if 2009 keeps going like this, the amount of good games are definitely going to surpass those from 2008.

» Best news ever!

The way i see it they kind of dont need to develop a new psp. The old psp is not done yet because they are allready starting to develop the kind of games that should have been on the psp like two years ago. If they develop a newer one what makes me think they will develop better games compared to the psp? What mekes those better? Technically we dont need a newer psp, but i will still purchase it. Oh yea i understand how piracy is a issue too, but piracy will always be there no matter what, i dont think you can stop it.

» Ehhh????

How can the PSP 2 be possible now; Sony is investing huge amounts of money on big games for the PSP 1 this year (LittleBigPlane t, Motorstorm, Assassin's Creed and others not yet announced).

Why would anyone make huge new lots of games, only a few months before the PSP 2 is out! (fall 2009, according to David Perry), (Note that all the major titles heading for the PSP are due for a fall 2009 date as well)

Some people say 2009 is the year of the PSP!

As for me 2005/2006 was the year of the PSP!

I think 2009 is the PSPs resurrection

Might as well be the insurrection of the PSP 1 vs PSP 2!

What do you guys think!

» Cool

I thought this would be another boring PSP year. But after all these game announces, woah! I just can't wait!

» wow.

just wow. Sony is finally making a move. And what a move it is! PS3 is set to dominate, since I dont see any interesting 360 exclusives on the horizon, and same goes for wii. Everybody has a wii already, and that gimmick of a system is coming to an end. With blu-rays becoming more popular, PS3 is set to dominate!!!!!!! Not to mention that HOME is actually getting some cool stuff! Warhawk Command Center is awesome, but can't wait for EA sports center. I hope Media Molecule also makes like a workshop for LBP in Home.

And now the ps3's lil sibling is also making a comeback. There have been more good titles announced in the past week than in 2 years. That's both awesome and sad. And Sony has also succeeded in stopping piracy with the 3000 (even DA couldn't hack it).

PS3: Awesome exclusives + good Home content + more support (I'd like a music app similar to the recently released photo gallery app) EQUALS Domination!!

PSP: new interface (PSP2) + tons of awesome new games + less piracy + more PS3-PSP connectivity (like Retribution) EQUALS Domination!

Someone with a vested interest feeds the wanting masses a line of propaganda and you all think it's the second coming of christ! Fanboyz make me laugh :)

The PSP is doing poorly, the flood of quality game releases for the platform have dwindled to a trickle as was blatantly shown last year.

Just because they says X is released on the PSP, doesn't automatically mean it'll translate to something decent. The Assassin's Creed 'unique to the PSP' means something more akin to a rewrite which will probably mean it'll be nothing like the real AC, but some inferior interpretation due to the PSP's limited power.

I've been around too long to believe anything that comes from people like this. I'll believe it when I see it and until then, all this grandstanding with lineup announcements amounts to nothing more than industry propaganda.

We all should know that 'announcements' mean jack ***** - games can be pulled at any time and they'll string you along right until the end.

Or are you all still actually believing Gran Turismo for the PSP is 'almost here' as well.

Pass

» dude go away

no one cares if you hate the awesome exclusives coming this year

» lol

Who said I hate 'awesome exclusives' you stupid *****?

I am just cynical about bs propaganda coming from people with vested interests in the industry.

Haven't you learned anything over the last year or two in regards to PSP releases?

Fark some people here are stupid. You'll eat any slice of dog***** the devs/promoters feed you because you're that desparate for the holy grail which obviously never going to come.

C'mon man, wise the hell up and get the ***** out of your eyes. These people in the industry have been full of ***** for years and will tell you anything you want to hear just to get you to part with your hard earned - but you know what? The PSP is still not going to have a gaming legacy when it's said and done in future years that approaches even half of the accomplishments of the mainstream 8 bit consoles of a decade ago.

The only certainty in 2009 is the stupid people will continue to believe and fork over the hard earned for sub quality product.

» Heres an idea...

...about making larger games. Multi UMD's, just like some PSX games, ie. FFVII, VIII, IX, MGS, Parasite Eve, etc. It probably wouldnt work on all games like GTA, but if they make an RPG, hint, a FFVII remake, they could.
