GamesRadar alerts folks that in a recent interview with Edge magazine, the legendary Hideo Kojima, head of super-studio Kojima Productions, revealed his unlikely and unhinged vision for a zombie-themed game. According to Kojima, he's "less interested in the idea of the living dead than the fact you can turn people just by biting them." So much is his focus on "turning" people, that he even considers implementing his take on zombie-apocalypse in a massively-multiplayer online environment.

He explains:

Imagine a large town where half the inhabitants are zombies. Users would subscribe, get inside the town and get bitten. At that stage they become undead and can't control their character - all they can do is modify the camera angles.

...They'd see their character attacking humans and have to pay just to watch! ...The only way they could end it is by opening another account, hunting themselves down and killing themselves. Of course, the problem is that your second character can get bitten as well.

Not getting to control your character if you get turned? Having to hunt your former "self" and kill it (if it got zombified it's an "it" now), just to progress the game? Get bombarded by cinematics of mindless zombies? All too silly? Well, despite Kojima's own reservations about his over-the-top and unlikely Zombie-MMO, he says that he won't rule the idea out. GamesRadar reports that should he feel that the moment is opportune, he will "take some time to prepare. Very seriously."

Well, the cinematic aspect of the whole thing is trademark Kojima.

» Game addicts are the big problems.

I’m Japanese and live in Japan; however, game addicts are classified as 3rd raters in any countries; it’s just same in Japan or in the states. Ok, kids. What kind of stupid human beings spend (waste) time for reading game related thingies when you waste even more hours every single day to play games? Playing games is not enough for you? So you have to waste hours and hours every day to read game related articles, watch game related movies and see game related pictures? Game addicts are very pathetic sort of people I can imagine. They are pitiful guys in real lives. The gaming addicts occupy the lowest ranks in any society.

Let’s take an example of Counter-strike. Game addicts played the game so much, now they become very good at it. When they play the game online, they can get a lot of kills when they only relatively die much less. Their kill–death ratio is very good; better than other people; therefore, the game addicts feel satisfied and get self-esteem because they are better and cooler than other people in that virtual world. On the other hand, game addicts are regarded as 3rd rated, lifeless, worthless, useless, stupid, and trash like kinds in real lives with garbage like educational achievement. Game addicts created their own virtual reality and try very hard every day to maintain their imaginative gaming world.

For your easy understanding guys, I have a very simple and concise example. When you were high schoolers, you had seen a lot of nerds and non-fashionable classmates. I’m talking about those students who study very hard and spend a lot of time for studying, working and planning for their future. You, game addicted kids called them idiots or nerds. Now, years later from then, those hard working and diligent students attend universities when game addicts get worthless lives. A few more years later from this moment, they will work as lawyers, doctors, officers, et cetera when you will work as cleaners, store clerks, janitors and bus drivers.

Game addicts will clean up those hard working people’s office later as janitors; and this is the real life; get out of your virtual gaming world. Your life is worth about $10 per hour; I actually have nothing more to say. Those respectable and hard working people who become lawyer and doctors earn about $200 - $600 per hour. Even the youngest and entry level lawyers earn $300 per hour. If you work as store clerks, for example, you will earn about $8 per hour if you just started working. You will get about $15 per hour about 8 years later when you have a lot of work experience. I bet you feel very happy about your life because now you can earn $15 per hour instead of $8.

If you are so bone-headed, I can talk about just so many other aspects of reality. I don’t have to talk about the amount of money (dollars) you earn. I can talk about, let’s say, the quality of lives? I’m sure that lawyer’s life quality is incomparably much more superior, better, safer, securer, cleaner, more respectable, and so on than the life quality of game addicts.

» Who the hell are you

And why exactly are you on a gaming website, talking meaningless *****? Go take your preachy ***** somewhere else. It may be hard for you to believe, but there is such a thing as being able to game and have a successful social life/career. I think you fail to see that. So please, don't post here again with that stupid, unrelated to the article crap.

let me guess you got owned in a game of counter strike noob?

also why say" Playing games is not enough for you? So you have to waste hours and hours every day to read game related articles, " when you yourself is on a website thats mostly videogame articles . moron

You sound like someone with a lot of gaming experience, I applaud you for your 'outside the box' perspective. You sucked at counterstrike, right?

Thanks for the wall of text that I wasted a good two minutes of my life reading, because I believed it was somewhat important. You my friend is what is called a troll, and YOU a 3rd rated, lifeless, worthless, useless, stupid, and trash like kind of person. You say you live in Japan so this may not mean much to you but I go to the Bronx High School of Science, one of the, if not the, most prominent and prestigious high school in the U.S. I have a 3.6 GPA, which would be an easy 4.0 in any other high school. I%u2019m on the robotics team and either take, or will be taking, college level courses including Advanced Placement Microeconomics, Statistics, and Physics before I graduate next year. I plan on owning a business one day and making more money than the ones you pulled out of your ass for your previous comment. While I am obviously quite intelligent I also enjoy playing videogames, and surfing the web for game-related news, and there are many other people in my position, friends who are bigger game freaks than me, who are also more intelligent than you. Your assumptions are only that, assumptions, and should be disregarded as such.

» A better idea

A perfect zombie game would be one set in an entire city the size of the average GTA. Have everyone be human and a certain percentage zombies, with the humans able to turn into zombies if bitten (or even killed by another human if the zombie "cause" is not an infection but rather all dead returning to life). Then the humans can either fight eachother, team up and kill zombies, barricade up, kill all the zombies and turn on eachother, intentionally become zombies and hunt down humans...ultimately resulting in a server reset a la Chromehounds to start all over again after predetermined conditions and/or time countdowns.

Game addicts making fun of nerds? Is there something wrong where I come from, because as far as I see, the game addicts are the nerds. If someone finds out you're getting less than a 3.0 at my school, you're likely to get laughed out of our gaming club.

What bothers you so much about one group of people's hobby, anyway? Couldn't your same argument be used against someone who plays a sport? What makes one hobby inferior to another?

What about someone who spends a lot of time reading? Or somebody who plays an instrument? Of course they are 3rd rate, lifeless, worthless, useless, and stupid, too?

It sounds to me like you have some sort of personal vendetta against gamers in general.

Your inaccurate stereotypes really make me question your own intelligence. Do you randomly go from one website to another trying to force your prejudices on us? And you say that WE waste our time?

I bet that I will get rated down, but you are kind of right. The so-called "hardcore" gamers that sit and play games all day and end up living in a virtual world are really unfortunate people, so as to speak. At the same time, the lives of those who dod not play games at all are clearly missing something. It is best to have a balance between these things. For example, be a casual gamer. Don't spend four hours per day in the evening playing multiplayer games in order to boost your ego.

However, it's okay to play four hours of games if it's only on occasion. ;)

It was in the E3 2003 issue of GameInformer. I specifically remember this because it was the year that MGS3's first trailer came out.
