Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - Image 1

Try as he might, it seems Hideo Kojima just can't seem to let go of the Metal Gear Solid series. To fans, that's definitely not a bad thing, and so the fact that Kojima himself is getting very involved with the development of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has been enough to convince some fans to look forward to the game.

His involvement with the PSP title wasn't always supposed to be that deep, however. In an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Kojima explained he had to step in to make sure that "generational differences" didn't cause any confusion regarding the game's storyline and setting:

At first, I was just going to create the overall guidelines and concepts for the project, and leave it in the hands my excellent staff. I was going to have a hand in the project as a producer, and make titles other than MGS. But, I set the game in the South American (sic) country of Costa Rica and created a story with themes about nuclear deterrence and the cold war. It looked as if it might be very confusing to young people, because of generational differences. So, in the end I finally said, “I’ll do it.”

Kojima also mentioned that Peace Walker will be "a completely different kind of action than what has appeared in the series so far." He also revealed that the cardboard box seen at the end of Peace Walker's E3 2009 trailer has a name: "The Love Box".

Love Box, eh? Can't wait.
