Inty Jaffe Trinity: Heartland, movie Kratos, and Loco Roco |
Nope, there's nothing here about confirming if/when the PSP gets hit by God of War. On the other hand, Entertainment Weekly's interview with David Jaffe reveals what that cancelled PSP title, Heartland, ought to have been about. And why Jaffe's shifted gears to Calling All Cars. And who ought to play Kratos in a God of War movie (oh, man, that's going to be debated).Heartland hits where it hurts: the heart
Meant to be a dark and very real-world emotional roller-coaster on a UMD, "Heartland was the story of China invading America... a first-person shooter where you played a soldier debating whether to stay and fight for America or go AWOL to meet up with your family." You can say the decision Jaffe took in deciding not to pursue the title is also his own Heartland story.
Hearing myself talk about it now makes me a bit sad [that we didn't finish it]. But I wasn't incentivized to make it, in a way that I could go to my family and say, ''You're not going to see me for 90% of the time, but there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.'' There isn't a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, at least the current way the industry is set up.
In the end he picked family. Moving on to Calling All Cars... And because he has a heart: the Light of Loco Roco:
There, Jaffe sees the future: PlayStation Network, downloadable casual titles, "It's exactly what I want to be doing - a small, sub-million-dollar game." In the time he took off from post-God of War work in order to concentrate on family, friends, and The Light (TM):
There was something during that period that became very tangible to me when I saw people playing games like Loco Roco or titles on the [Nintendo] DS. I saw the straight-up fun in games and I realized I wanted to explore that... For a while I thought I was doing something that's important to push the industry forward. And then you realize, no, you're totally cool — go make stuff that makes people happy and laugh.
The good stuff: celluloid Kratos? (and the necessary naughty bits bar ...)
Jaffe also reveals to EW a few details of the God of War movie project (hey, EW is, after all, a movie/TV/music mag; video games is just kind of "brave new world" for them). He mentions "a really good script" by "Thirteen Days" screenwriter David Self, and that they'll be sending it out to a "huge-name director." Who wants to play guessing games as to who he is?And now the money shot. Who does Jaffe think is best to play Kratos? ANSWER: Djimon Hounsou, Maximus' African friend in "Gladiator," and most recently seen in (if you've watched this damn good movie) "Blood Diamond." Okay, there's the "he's not Greek" part, but Jaffe thinks that in terms of physique and acting ability, Djimon's the perfect fit.
I don't know what PSP Updates is going to say, but you got my vote on that choice, David.

OMG! OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG!OMG! I'M FIRST I CAT BELIEVE IT I CANT BELIEVE IT IM GOING INSANE IM GONNA EXPLODE THIS IS JUST CRAZY
Shut the fu'ck up b'itch
That guy is a great actor, but if you ask me this role was made for either Jason Stathman or Vin Diesel (as long as they work on talking more ALA Kratos)
never would have thought of Djimon, but that's an excellent choice. million times better than vin diesel or the rock.
Djimon fits the roll perfectly, with a litle bit of make-up he'd looks exactly like kratos. Not intending to be racis, since i am an african american.
....I dunno about that. But I suppose after painting him to look like he's covered in ashes and red tattoos it won't be quite as much of an issue. I still think Vin Diesel would be the best fit. He's got more experience with action movie roles (Rid***** movies are great examples showing somewhat similar fighting techniques being used even though his knives weren't on chains). He's got the build for it. He's a huge fan of fantasy (he's a D&D geek) and, as such, I think he'd be very passionate about playing the role, which is important with a character like Kratos. And to my knowledge, isn't working on any other movie projects right now.
Obviously if your caucasion, you're gonna want the actor that plays kratos to be "white". I think that african(-american?) guy is a great fit for the movie since with the grey skin paint thing would make him look like kratos. Also Kratos in GoW ain't "white" so ppls should stop saying crap about others playing his role on the film. Video games need more diversity in games instead of having characters with blond hair and blue eyes all the time...that ruins the experience.
are you guys retarted? its not blond hair and blue eyes ruining the experience. Its people like you fighting over who should be cast for said role. You care more about the person portraying the character than the character himself. I will let jaffe decide whats best and hope that they don't make a *****ty movie.
I thought the dude who played dracula/super vampire dude in Blade Trinity would make a good kratos...
Kratos is Greek. We Greeks are white ->Kratos is white.Simple enough for everyone? Other than that I don't care who plays him.
vin diesel would make the perfect character
The guy doesn't have to be white..\ great choices are Vin and "The Rock".. They have the build and the attitude...
Not to mention that the guy who VOices Kratos is a Black man.............lol
Nathan Jones would have definitly the stature. http://www.hotflick.net/pictures/Nathan_Jones_002.html And stop this racism bull*****. Would you be happy if the actor of "Mini Me" played Muhammad Ali? A white guy is a white guy, its as simple as that.
Vin Diesel's isin't the guy toplay Kratos!
EXACTLY!! I'm not a racist but video games should be more diverse instead of mostly white characters. What about Black, Hispanis, Asian...etc?
Technically Krato's as a caucasian is never stated....he has white skin but its more like a ghost white.....Makeup does wonders ass hole
He looks nothing like Kratos.
First, Kratos is referend as spartan more than once. spartan + greek + southern european + white (what apparently means caucasian to some ill educated). There wasnt a big deal of foreigners back then in ancient greece, and to have the state of a citizen - let alone serve the army - you had to be native. Sparta had exceptional rigor with such things, newborns were left for dead if they werent healthy and the only way to become Spartan was to inherit this priviledge from your parents. Apart from that, if you played the game you seen cutscenes with his real skin. Also, there are a bit more racial differences than skin-color, for example characteristical shapes of the head. No makeup will hide that. That game and movies have mainly white protagonists is another story entirely. The games already there and a movie based on it should, well, be based on it?
