Id Software, the guys responsible for Doom and Quake, recently branched out to create Id Mobile, who in turn will be developing games for mobile phones, the DS and the PSP. They recently came out with Orcs & Elves for the DS. So what are their plans now?
Basically all their plans rely on the success of Orcs & Elves, but they have revealed that Wolfenstein for mobile phones is currently in development. Aside from this they'll be releasing new and already established IPs alternately per year.
Id Mobile wants to port the classics onto the DS and mobile phones, including a Doom RPG that will probably make its way to the PSP,. They explain that an M-rated title on the Nintendo DS would be risky, but Katherine Anna Kang, founder of id Software Fountainhead, really wants to see the game appear on the DS, so who knows?
They have tried experimenting on cross platform gaming between the PSP and the DS but the hardware wouldn't allow it. Currently they are considering releasing Orcs & Elves for the Nintendo Wii as well, depending on its performance on the DS.
