Hideo Kojima talks about the next MGS in Famitsu PSP+PS3, raises more questions than answers |

According to a post on NeoGAF, Hideo Kojima doesn't reveal a lot about the next MGS game in the interview apart from confirming that it takes place in the "Metal Gear Saga" timeline. There's also a hint that the game will cover different time periods.
Interestingly enough, he never once referred to the guy who general concensus thinks is Big Boss as Big Boss. Kojima just kept referring to him as "this old man". The patch on "Big Boss"'s beret also has a different-looking symbol. Maybe it's not Big Boss?
Kojima also mentioned that the system of the game will be new, although he refrained from elaborating. The MGS4 staff will be handling this one, and while the core target is Japan, there will definitely be a worldwide release.
There's also been some talk about who the character shown in the left page of the first scan above is. Some say he's Raiden, some say Gray Fox. I'm leaning towards the latter (the damaged eye, the bandanna, plus I just think he's more badass) but there are timeline issues that seem to rule it out. Oh, and he's dead, so there's that too.
Then again, this is freakin' Metal Gear. Cloning, nanomachines, hypnotizing yourself so you think there's another guy living in your hand... ANYTHING's possible. And different time periods?
That is SO Gray Fox.

Thats interesting. So there is a high possibility that its Raiden on the left page from current time period.

It would seem that, if that is Raiden, the game will have two storylines. For example, one minute you could be Big Boss sometime between 1970 and 1995, the next you could be Raiden between 2009 and 2014 working for Big Mamma.
Very Lost-esque method of story-telling. I honestly, can't wait.

"...some old man" might just be to throw us off from thinking it's Big Boss. The patch may look different, but you have to remember that after MGS3, Big Boss had his own vision, and eventually Zero took Sigint and Paramedic while Snake had Eva and Ocelot. My just be a beret from those times.

The beret though, makes me think that it is Big Boss.. the logo is shaped into a skull from the side. But thats not the reason.. my reason is that after Big Boss left the patriots, he didnt officially pick up Foxhound until a few years before the original MSX games. During his time outside of the patriots, he went around from war to war joining various armies and becoming the legend.. or something.
I think he takes control of Foxhound shortly after meeting up with Gray Fox again who is now with Naomi.. he helps getting them back into the country acting as their guardian. Again I'm a little rusty.

Also when I first heard that it may not be big boss my first thought was its Solidus, would make sense because of all the brothers he has the more shady background and maybe we find out more about him and "Jack" ie Raiden!

But then again, they probably just got some fail modeler to do both of these, and they might really be Big Boss and Raiden. Eh, we'll know in a few days.

on the beret, carefully. You can see the following words
(Militaries Sans Frontieres ) which means ( Soldiers without Borders ) . Which is a hidden message that Hideo Kojima is referring to the Australia′s SAS (Special Air Service ).
Which BIG BOSS was in the SAS in his early years. Hideo Kojima is a absolute die hard fan of all that is special operational warefare and all that has to do with it.
He most likely got his inspiration for the inscription Militaries Sans Frontieres ( Soldiers without Borders ) on the patch from a book written by Ian McPhedran : Soldiers Without Borders: Beyond the SAS.
If you look at the geological terrain on Hideo Kojima web site it is closest to an Australian or African dry grass field plain. Hinting the story would take place in either or country. Which would in turn put right inline with the events that happend in Zanzibar land or Outer Heaven .
I just think Hideo Kojima tie together the early events and history of the metal gear series .

I have to say it is definitely Big Boss, not Solidus as he has his eye patch on the other eye! Also just because he's not wearing his bandana doesn't mean it's not him. He's a leader in the Patriots and leaders were berets!
As much as I think the other person is Raiden, I have to say that it must be Gray Fox, as Raiden is much too young to be in MG1 + 2!
Hope everyone sees the truth in this!
