Gran Turismo 5 - Image 1

We had a conspicuous lack of updates for Gran Turismo 5 at GDC. ah, but we did have one itsy bitsy piece of news from SCEA's John Koller. If you blinked you'd have missed it. Koller says that the game will be released when it "makes the most sense." He also suggested that it might be coming to more than one platform, saying:

Ultimately, they [Polyphony Digital] are a developer who makes a lot of their own decisions. But we are looking at GT5 across all platforms, just to see what makes the most sense.

Would Koller be talking about the PSP Gran Turismo game that's been AWOL for some time now? The most we heard of the game for the past year is that it's "still coming." A formal announcement for the PS3 version (and maaaaybe the PSP one) is expected this E3.

» well

if he says across all platforms, then that disappoints me. if they plan on releasing it on the psp, thats cool, but the 360? than no way. and then i can see why its taking so long.

but in other news i just read this.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/sony-slashes-ps2-price-to-USD99-99

and if this was sonys big announcement then that disappoints me even more....

» disappointing

if this game goes on 360 i will be very disappointing... that the reason i like it... that its not on 360 and it looks way better then Forza...please Polyphony Digital do not waste your time putting it on 360 it will loose the factor of being an exclusive and I would hate that.

yea bout sony's big announcement for the ps2 price cut.... its not that big ....thats actually bad news. i want some big announcement PS3 NEWS!

» Grand Turismo 5 on 360

Hell yeah man! Awesome and what not! NO, not really! That wouldn't be awesome! Besides Sony owns Polyphony Digital, so that should never happen... Unless Sony might be going the way of Sega... I kid, I kid!

» Grand Turismo on 360??

the 360 has forza which in my opinion has better gameplay and doesnt get boring like grand turismo. I mean GT looks alot better but gameplay is kinda boring just hurry up with God of War3 people can wait for GT.

» uh...

I don't think GT on Xbox360 is quite what the guy meant. I doubt a guy working for Sony would suggest such a thing. Releasing the Playstations main exclusive racing simulation on rival hardware? Not likely. He probably means PS3/PSP or something. Hell I dunno.

» Connectivity.

What would make sense is to release on both Psp and Ps3 and give some decent connectivity options like car data, lap times etc.

» Give me a break guys

Think for just two seconds. First off, Poly has a superb relationship with Sony and thus a 360 version is just ludacris. If that wasn't enough it's coming from Sony's Koller - who even if the series did jump on to the other box... wouldn't be touting it as something exciting.

For sure he was talking a ver for the PS3 and PSP with a possibility of a version ported from PSP to PS2. As to cover all grounds and make the most profit... which would make total sense of the delays we've been getting from the team.

Lastly, I love how Sony just allows Poly to do their own thing. Allowing the team to make the game as best they can instead of jumping on them for a Christmas release is big in the gaming world these days.

» I think...

it's still Sony exclusive title. Yeah, you're all right probably for PS3, PSP and maybe even PS2. I'm guessing they're going to optimize this for a PS3 to PSP and vice-versa connectivity but if not, that's still cool. Anyway, just hoping this would be release soon.

» I NEED...

PSP GT!

» I will not buy this game

if it goes to the 360. This game should be strictly on ps3. Just another company looking for more money.

» R.I.P PS3

I don't know why people are worried about it going to the 360, i mean without exclusive titles the PS3 is just a over-priced bread bin and will only be bought by obsessive Sony fan boys, so untill there's a serious PS3 price cut, Gran Turismo's not going anywhere.

by Link75e - 2009-03-31 13:43
» it could

remember eveything is about money and if they can make more then why not. They know that their are more 360 owners than ps3 and if they port it over i mean come on everybody who plays games knows GT so 360 owners will get it because of the name although i prefer forza and project gotham but thats just me i also belive sam fisher could kill solid snake.

I'm inclined to believe its a PS2 version, they allready have the GT4 engine on PS2. Thy'll probably use that and give it online though Cental Station.

Personally, I'd like to see a PS1 version. Back in those days GT was so much more fun.

Is GT4 Mobile also comming or has it become GT5 Mobile?

by NathanDrake - 2009-04-01 00:47
» guh...

Don't be an idiot. Gran Turismo is a Sony published franchise and they wouldn't give away one of their most well known brands.

R.I.P. PS3? Seriously that's a moronic thing to say. The PS3's never been stronger than it is now and with far more promising games coming out than the Xbox360 has. Hell, even if not counting the games it's surely become my most used device in my home. It's a better media player than the 360.
