Fabula Nova Crystallis: the command systems of XIII, Versus, Agito |
Ó
In a recent interview, Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase, talks on some of the specifics for the command systems of the three games that comprise Final Fantasy XIII.
Now if you've been following news on the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, then most of what Kitase says will already be familiar to you, but let this serve as a refresher course. Fabula Nova Crystallis 101.
Kitase explains that while all the games in the Fabula series are all based on the same legend and mythology of a crystal, each director has a free hand on interpreting the myth. It was revealed some time ago that all three take place in the same universe, although they aren't directly related to each other.
Seeing as each director has his own favored style, each game will have its own different command system. Kitase explains: "These three XIII titles will all take familiar gameplay styles and evolve them further, to create an entirely new experience for everyone."
Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be directed by Hajime Tabata, who worked on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The game will have a "merging of action and command" similar to the one found in Crisis Core.
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, 360), under the direction of Motomu Toriyama, will have a more traditional "command-style" system. As we know from past interviews with Toriyama, the Active Time Battle system we know from past FF games will return, but that the "waiting time until you choose a command is gone for the most part."
Final Fantasy Versus XIII, under director Tetsuya Nomura, will have a more "action-based" command system. If you're wondering what that means, think Kingdom Hearts, which was also under the direction of Nomura.

That rawks. The two games I've been giving preference to (VS and Agito) sound like they have great battle system and the guys behind them make me smile too!
Hajime Tabata - who was behind CCFFVII is doing Agito on the PSP and
Tetsuya Nomura - who was behind the KH series is doing VSXIII
Woo! I'm stoked.
so if im a fan of the combat in ffvii crisis core i should buy agito and not versus?
nevermind agito is psp i got confused
Vs is sounding like my kind of game. I liked the battle system on kingdom hearts so this is going to be perfect for me. So far the kind of darkish mood of the game (at least from the trailers I saw) looks pretty damn good. I think this is the first FF game I'm actually really wanting to get myself.
like i was saying from beginning, versus is the best of em :D...ah wells, seems agito is moving up too, nice nice
