Dylan Cuthbert: No plans for Pixeljunk Monsters for the PSP - Image 1

When PixelJunk Monsters landed on the PSN at the start of this year, the title enjoyed quite a popular run thanks in large part to its Remote Play support. This feature enabled PSP owners within range to enjoy the title on their handheld as much as the guys running it on the PlayStation 3.

And with the recent release of the PlayStation Store PC, you guys are probably asking: Are the devs planning to release a dedicated PSP port of PixelJunk Monsters? According to Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert during an inquiry, this might be "No," due to the game's current price point on the PSN, where is sells for less than US$ 10.

Re-releasing the game as a dedicated UMD, Cuthbert explained, would mean jacking up its price to enable the devs to make a profit, and they (Q-Games) just didn't see a market for that just yet.

Cuthbert further explained that they weren't planning to adopt the game as a downloadable on the PlayStation Store PC either due to lack of demand in Japan. "I don't want to be pidgeonholed into working for the US market," said Cuthbert.

On the lighter side of matters, Cuthbert indicates that one possibility for the future (at least for japan) would be a Blu-Ray compilation of all the past PixelJunk games. He notes that this may not be happening until the studio manages to release five to six games within the franchise.

Cuthbert also reiterated on PixelJunk Monster's upcoming expansion, although he didn't say what sort of goodies would be included in the pack. Those interested in reading the full interview may want to visit the source link for all the goodies.
