del ToroMexican director Guillermo del Toro has always maintained this fearless forecast: in the next five years, all platforms (movies, videogames and TV) will fuse into one. That is why he is learning all mediums now and that is why he has been helping with the development of the upcoming title Hellboy (PS3, X360, PSP) on top of all his other projects. And with the rate things are going, we could say he is slowly making a believer out of all of us.

Together with the development team, del Toro boasts of the game's intricate storyline and interactive environment. Hellboy still has his glove but unlike in the movie, the game allows him to use pretty much everything. "If he destroys a door, he can grab a piece of that door and start beating the crap out of someone! Or if he destroys a stone archway, he can pick up a stone and throw it," shares the director.

HellboyInterestingly, the environment as del Toro explains it, has the past and the present juxtaposed with one another. According to him, "Go and play in the ruins of a castle that is full of Nazi doomsday machines. And then you can go and wander through the empty streets of a haunted Eastern European village."

Finally, the 42-year old director reveals that he and Terminal Reality have another game in development called Sundown. The game will involve zombies and is sent in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. As of now, negotiations are being made with several European and American Companies for funding.

Hellboy is based on the popular Dark Horse Comics demon. The game adaptation on the other hand, is being developed by Konami and is planned for release in 2007.
