BBFC: we've benefited from Manhunt 2 Case - Image 1

It's been a long and dragging legal battle between the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) and Rockstar Games over the fate of Manhunt 2 in the UK. It was only last month that the BBFC was finality forced to allow the game to be released in the region.

Rockstar's probably happy about the whole thing, but what about the BBFC? The Manhunt 2 (PSP, Wii) case "bruised" the organization's credibility and placed it under heavy scrutiny. What does the BBFC have to say about the matter?

According to the organization's director, David Cooke, they don't regret making the decisions they made. In fact, they actually benefited from the affair, saying: "weÂ’ve ended up with a clearer legal definition of that test than we had before the case started." He adds:

The fact people know you can [reject games] means that you can have discussions with publishers about the way game is marketed – you can even have discussions about modification in rarer occasions – so I don’t regret that we took the decision because we thought it was the right one.

I guess the old adage applies...

There's no such thing as bad publicity.

» Well

It's a big waste of everyone's time. Even the people who buy and play it, if it was actually a good game I would be completely outraged, but it's not.

So who cares.
