Atari evolved: Matt Rush explains how things have changed since |
Ó
If you're an 80s kid like myself, then the first console you've probably gotten your hands on was the classic Atari 2600. Old-school gamers will definitely appreciate the comeback that the ageless console is delivering by reviving well-loved titles through the Atari Classics Evolved title for Sony's PlayStation Portable.Matt Rush, producer of Atari Classics Evolved, talks about how they have worked the old with the new and how things have evolved from there. He explains the new additions each game will be sporting asides from their obviously new look on the PSP:
TheyÂ’re authentic because they are based on the original ROMs and they also present a fresh experience, featuring unique music tracks, 3D graphics, a new particle effects. It also feels great to play these games with on modern platforms. They look better than theyÂ’ve ever looked before.
Since all the games in the title were based off the original ROMs, veteran gamers will still be able to enjoy the same gameplay that captured their attention when it first came out on the 2600. In addition, games such as Battlezone and Warlords will now feature Ad Hoc, so they can relive the same head-to-head competitive gaming these simple, yet enjoyable games will be featuring.
If that isn't enough, players can actually unlock the original Atari games and play each of them in their virgin state. With over 50 games included in the title, gamers will definitely have a great time reliving the good old days. While not all the Atari classics made it onto the title, Rush hinted that a sequel may follow depending on the reaction of gamers to the first release. Atari Classics Evolved goes live on December 4 exclusively for the PSP, so go ahead and make sure to pick up a copy if you're feeling nostalgic.
