Playing NES games on your TV using a PSP |
Ó

A QJ reader who goes by the name of jojo has dropped us an email informing us that thanks to custom firmware 5.00 M33's video output update, PSP owners can now play their NES games on a regular TV.
Jojo's tip on how to do this is a bit of a long workaround. First, you'll have to use imbNES (you can download it below) to add your NES roms to an ISO. Once that's done, you can turn the ISO into a PSP Eboot using a Popstation GUI like PSX2PSP. You can then connect your PSP to your TV, run the Eboot on your PSP, and there you have it - NES games on your TV.
There are probably a ton of easier ways to do this, but hey, but if you have some time on your hands and would like to see old-school Mario as big as life on your kickass TV set, you might consider giving this a try.

Thanks to jojo for the tip!

...Just use Fusa.
this on a fat psp?
No. How would you connect it to the TV?
Using that awesome imaginary video out the 'fat' PSP has...
i didnt check anything for my psp since 2 years ago, im behind on all this stuff and i thought by remote play...
did you use it?
remotplay works the other way round...displays ps3 screen on on psp thats why its REMOTE play ;)
haven't you heard of un-remote play? kekeke
it has to be a slim. i dont think they make video out cables for the fat. when m33's 5.00 cfw came out you can play ps1 games on your tv via the standard psp a/v cable. this method is kind of time consuming, but if you guys like playing "portable" NES on your TV, then this is definately for you. does fusa have video out? i had no idea. ill have to check that out.
Fusa doesn't always run everything a full speed. Most homebrew that I've tried is laggy and no matter what options I adjusted, I could never get nester j to run faster than 30fps. I'll give this a try and then I post the results.
PS1 full screen output came out with Sony's OFW 5.00.
For those that dont know, Fusa is a homebrew plugin that generates full screen gameplay of games on a TV screen. Be warned though, some games look like crap especially when being displayed on an HDTV. I think it was made mostly for PS1 games because a good amount of PSP games and most homebrew don't run at full speed.
good one Advertising...
Anyone know of a way to do this with SNES emulator/games instead of NES?
now i wonder if it's possible to turn Goldeneye into an ISO and do the same deal. :/
Cool because I already have about 109 games in a PSX Eboot (A girl gave it to me)
btw, is this only for slim users?
haha
my thoughts exactly. if we can turn nes games into iso's then turn them into psp eboots using popstation gui or somethin, then couldnt we just turn n64 roms into iso's then into psp eboots using popstation gui then are n64 emulation problems are over!! someone tell me if its possible.
i believe that imbNES is just an nes emulator for the playstation 1 so your theory of playing n64 roms by converting to iso are impossible unless there is a n64 emulator for the psx which i doubt

majorbb100 is correct. i just took something we already had(IMBnes the ps1 nes emu) and used it to rip the nes games and the nes EMULATOR to a cd/iso that is for use with a ps1. now, since the psp can play ps1 games that have been converted to an eboot, you just use a util to convert the iso into psp playable format(PBP). since 5.00 came out, video output is supported with ps1 games, there for you can play the "NES" on the tv using the PS1 nes emulator. thats all i did. i didnt realize fusa was alive... my bad.. so basically anything the ps1 can emulate can be output to your tv from your psp.... im almost certain that if the psp can hardly handle an N64 emulator then the ps1 isnt going to come close. i think i may have read somewhere that the ps1 wouldnt even be able to handle an snes emu, im not sure though... i could be wrong. i just wanted to play nes on the tv with some friends
i didnt mean to put majorbb100.... *lastad is correct*
