Easy PSP analog stick mod |

Mjw from the QJ forums has come up with an extremely simple yet very effective analog stick mod for your PSP in order to make it that little bit more bulky, a few millimeters away from the faceplate of the PSP. This isn't one of those pull-your PSP apart mods, it doesn't require a single screw, piece of glue or anything like that. All you need is your PSP and a piece of paper. It's so easy that we can't believe we didn't think of it before and you can rest assured that we will probably be using it in the future!All you have to do is take a tiny piece of soft paper, remove your analog stick, place the tiny piece of paper in the hole on the back of the stick (As shown in the above image) and put it back on the PSP! It's as simple as that! This will take you about 10 seconds and could make it much more comfortable for you when playing your favourite game.

what happens when you want the analog stick back to normal?
This "mod" would also mean that the analog nub has less room to keep it in place, which would make it more susceptible to come off. Good idea, but it could use more tweaking.
Simple enough, will give it a shot... and who cares about lost nubs, you can get a pack of different sized ones at EB for $5.
Any tips on how to fix the weak directional pad using juicy fruit, a pipecleaner and sunflower seed shells?

i really like the feel, so i don't mind keeping it always like that. anyway, I know that i can pull it out, even with the glue. i don't think i can break anything by pulling a bit more harder
I used to put a small plastic cap that is exactly the same size and fits it perfectly, but rising the stick it helps my mod even more :)

It was a little tricky to fit the paper in the hole, but I managed to do it, and yeah, it actually feels really better, cause it's in a higher place than without it. Thanks Mjw!
do you know if this mod will make my psp unusable with my playgear pocket? i practically never take my psp out of that thing, and i couldnt live if it didnt close properly.

Yup, works great. But just a warning to you all; Do not use the foam PSP case with this mod. I have broken slightly larger nub I had doing that.

the playgear pocket?
i used this trick when i pulled the analog stick of my ols ps1 [or 2] controller ,It kept wobbling about so i put soggy wrizzla paper in hole n it workted, so try just pulling the anolouge stick of a ps1 or 2 pad and use a knofe & cut bottom of [takes only a few seconds to cut as its only thin plastic also dont take controller apart just pull sticks hard n youll have a spare ,Also muck easier n better to play games with.[especially driving games].
But looks like it could break easy and get things like water and dust insideof the psp which is directly linked to the screen.
Imagen having water or dust behind your psp screen.
That was done in like 5secs thanks its really good now:)
Tried it with Gtaand squarez..worked a charm. I recommend it to everyone :)

I can't understand why you keep talking of the analog stick of the psp like it's impossible to use...in my opinion it's good and I don't think I will modify it...
if that was directed @ me then all i was doing was stating that i also knew about this SIMPLE mod, as i said i only found it out by doing another analog mod,so if been sarcastic STFU,If not then a apolagize, just that some here may not know that trick thats all.

2.00 can be downgrade to 1.5 lucky u. but what about a D-PAD Mod. any idea of how to lift it up. every psp D-PAD sunk like ship
MAN this CRAP MOD BRICKED MY PSP luckaly i was able to fix it with devhook but that didnt work until i removed the paper and put the analog stick back the way it was before i messed with it.
but that this little fellow works like a charm.. with the slight elevation of the nub you really do have more control and grip.... props on this one
TA-082 users dont try, i bricked my TA-082, #26 wasnt joking. it works on all non TA-082 psp all firmwares.

As with all mods, this does run some chance of bricking your psp in certain extremely unlikely situations.
For example, do not attempt hammer the analog nub back on to the psp, simply press it with your finger.
Undoubtedly, someone as already tried this :/\

This is insane, man. I put the paper on it, but I realized that it was an important paper than I had put; it was my exam papers. Thanks to this bull*****, I have now failed my class for the 13th time. Thanks Butt-Face!
Now if you plan on modding your psp It is warned that this mod has some random shyt effects so if you have the balls to lay your PSP on the line go for it, if not stick to the regular analog, it ain't that bad anyway, I didn't mod and I didn't brick, so don't complain if this fux-up

A lot of you people are thick. Why would the PSP's firmware affect whether or not you can mod the analog stick!? It is extremely impossible to brick your PSP by elevating the analog stick. Seriously...

use a small piece off toilet paper. it fits very nicely.
that pic is of a prototype psp, not an actual release psp.
this will also help to stop the part of the psp around the analog stick from wearing out

I installed the paper under the analog stick then i downloaded X-flash and ran every app 100 times then my psp was bricked.
I followed the instructions just like they said
Do NOT install this mod if you are using 2.80. It will definitely BRICK your PSP as it did mine. I get audio, but no picture now. Also: If you stick paper in there, do NOT use sandpaper. I thought that doing so would make the stick a little "smoother". Boy was I wrong. :( Just a warning!

i got it to work...it was hard. but now i got aids.
i hated the original nub luckly it went missing on its own so i picked up that pack of 6 nubs from the source and the one i like the best stuck out way too far about 2-4mm farther then the original so i sat there running it on sandpaper for a half an hour and now its better for me

Yeah, that was a joke, maybe everyone is just gullible. External mods don't affect your firmware, thus they have no chance of bricking your PSP.

All in all, I liked this mod, it makes things more comfortable.

WEll damn, why the hell didn't I think of this, The anolog stick is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to move smoothly whatsoever in conjunction with the full face skin from InvisibleShield or BestSkinsEver, I beat GTA but it was a PAIN IN THE ARSE! jesus I have to do this now.

wow i was gettin nervous when i pulled it off because i thought it was like scrwed in and this was crap but then i was like f this and just yanked it. my arm went flying back even tho i just needed to gently pull it off. i dont really care what happens to my psp so i might experiment with some stuff and make it even more comfortable.
