Snake Grass

It's been a while since we last saw Shine's Snake homebrew. It's one of the very first homebrew games US PSP owners have installed in their PSP, being released when various exploits for the 1.5 FW has just been uncovered (not very different from the development 2.50/2.60 users are currently experiencing; history repeating itself?). Now Isak Gundrosen, the very same guy who created the original artwork for Shine's Lua Game Snake, has written us about a recent update he made to the classic game. (Told you a lot of people are getting nostalgic with these recent happenings.)

According to him, it's still the same concept (controls, objective, etc.) as before, but he just wants to give it a new look. In his own words, "I have updated both levels, changed the color of the fly to make it stand out more in the grass level and added new icons for both the Lua version and the standalone 1.50 version".

Now personally, these changes, although minimal, has made the classic feel of the game much more enjoyable. I don't know why, but I find myself enjoying this game than any other Snake for PSP versions I've played before. Maybe it's because it's easier to detect the new objects that are popping out for our green-skinned monster, or maybe it's just because I'm reliving the good old days when the homebrew scene was young...Hey, welcome to the 1.50 world former 2.50/2/60'ers, the good days are here again!

Thanks for calling our attention Dalla, but that one is a different version. The link you posted was made by Zion, this one is from Isak. Isak was actually prompted to make an updated version based from his original work (the original Snake by Shine), hence the nostalgic effect to the article. ;)

# updated version in time for the downgrader ;)Guest 2006-07-03 04:13
Good to see this made it to the front page.

I just had to update the game now that everybody(almos t) can enjoy the full power of homebrew :)

I have contacted shine regarding an anniversary edition(the first version(with graphics) was released 10th of June 2005) But so far I have not received any respons from him :( But maybe we can hope for a new version in time for the Lua anniversary ;)

Anyway, I hope to work further with this game, so expect to see more updates in a not so far future.
