Update PSPokemon Alpha 2 Released

For an Alpha release that's coded in Lua, this is pretty well done. And to think, it's PSPokemon">sony_psp_player's very first homebrew game. It's called PSPokemon, and from the name itself, you'd know it's (in the developer's own words) "a Pokemon clone."

As of now though, all you can basically do in this baby-phase Alpha release is control the Godzilla-sized Ash around the map you see in the pic above. You can also enter the houses, but they're pretty bare. Try it for yourself; no one's stopping you. The download doesn't contain a readme, so we can't quite direct you to any. Basically, the developer just wanted to get this early version out so that people could reply with their feedback.

Is it a good project to pursue? Hands down, I've always been a Pokemon fan, and any Poke-exposure on the PSP is very much welcome for me. the_darkside_986 (of "Die Critters Die" homebrew fame) seems to agree with me and said in the forums: "I'm going to get a DS to play Pearl/Diamond. But this sounds interesting so I'll try it. I hope this project really goes somewhere. Good luck with it."

So, to sony_psp_player, godspeed and may way see the full version soon!

UPDATE: sony_psp_player released Alpha 2 of his PSPokemon game already, so feel free to try it out! Enjoy!

why make this game you ask? first of all this is a game that appeals to a wide audience that may not feel like downloading illegal roms. second this is his first homebrew game and is this how we greet the new ingenuity (okay maybe not all that ingenius) in the community? third it would probably allow for a whole new story line that would be better for a homebrew game than the crap thats coming out lately. i say keep doin what your doin man this looks like it has potential.

Some people do not own the original copy of Pokemon FireRed so they cannot LEGALLY play it on their PSP. This game is important and it can eventually be a fully legal alternative to stolen roms.

Here is why you should be supportive instead of all "Why not just play the other Pokemon games."

[br]1. it may yeild something new

[br]2. it gives somebody the opertunity to show there side of how they would do a Pokemon game

[br]3. This guy could make this game, another and another and another, and maybe get into the gameing industry and bring us an acctually good game.

[br]4. future realeses may acctually be more fun than a barrel of monkeys

[br]5. this is the best reason to try this a.k.a. something new instead of tried and true methods ... DON'T BE SO LAZY AND OR NARROW MINDED!!!

For those of you who say ''why not just play the full speed GBA verson'' you are missing the point and as I have said before, should take a look at the ''bigger picture''.

I think the dev should carry on with this project, it looks good for an alpha and he will learn alot from doing this project.

This seems cool, to all those who say "why not download the roms?", there are a few reasons.

1. It's a new game, and has the potential to be a great game.

2. Making something tried and true on a series that is very fun will be satisfying to many pokemanics.

3. The creator, as a consumer, and a producer, may have some very creative and fun ideas.
