Even behind just a sprite moving there are a ton of "Behind-the-scene" coding needed to get it to work right. Just appreciate that some people are taking the time to actualy make something for you. Sadly, I reckon your head is screwed on incorrectly, man. Most homebrew programmers are decent people, who wouldn't code viruses on their PSP, or their PC for that matter. Another thing: Some homebrew games (Tetris comes to mind here) have been on my PSP since(shortly after) I bought my console. For example, I've played "Mario Don't Drop the PSP" Since mid-august. And thirdly, if you're "not broke" you're lucky. My money only goes so far, and since I'm not "in" to downloading ISOs, homebrew has became the only "new" things I've played on my PSP some months, while I save up my spare money to buy a couple of new games every couple of months.
