Madman PSP Porter LostJared has released his Tetris-inspired game with a penguin as a mascot called Tux Blocks v0.1. If this reminds you of another game, it might be because it's just a new version of another of LostJared's games called MasterPiece. All you have to do is get three of the same picture/color blocks together to clear the stacks to prevent it from getting too high. Controls for the most part are the Left, Right and Down directional buttons.

The psychedelic intro that takes you to the main menu was really cool. It's like a glimpse of how the game would be like - which is a party - apart from the give away title of Da Pingus' Party in the background (which I really liked). Although there's a multiplayer option, it's only still available for Windows/XBox. If it will be available in the PSP as well, that would definitely require changes to the game's set up. Bringing the whole party atmosphere is the awesome sound effects during gameplay.

However, there are some elements in the game that I think could use some tweaking. According to the readme file that comes with the game, the larger grid is intentional, but  I think it would be much better if the grid is actually defined. Like maybe with a bounding box or a faded area in the background.

If only just to see the penguin block much better, enlarging the graphics would be nice as well. I also noticed that there is no way that you can keep track of your score. Ultra competitive players would just rejoice if this was incorporated in the game.

Overall, the game is still quite a bit slow, but considering that it's still in its early stages, vast developments should be expected for Tux Blocks. I, for one, am looking forward to this game's development. Kudos to LostJared!

Why is this article written as a review, and a bad one at that?

How can one not realize that Tux is the mascot of the world's best operating system?

I am not much of a Linux fan. I don't like that penguin either. And the article is not about the penguin but about the game.

A PENGUIN? No, my friend, this is THE penguin. Your lack of tech knowledge is pathetic.

Tux is angered, and when Tux is angry, people get hurt.
