Tile World Port (Chip's Challenge)

Thepixelatedpoo, from our forums, has released a port of the game called Tile World for the PSP. Tile World is a recreation of the classic game "Chip's Challenge". The goal of the game is to collect all the data chips without dying. You will also have to go through numerous puzzles to get to the end once you have all the chips, which can be hard at times.

The PSP port of "Tile World" runs very well on the PSP system and can also play Chip's Challenge levels that you can obtain from your copy of Chip's Challenge for the PC (this is the chips.dat file). Place the data file in the data folder of your PSP/Game/Tileworld/data folder to play the original levels. This file (chips.dat) is part of a copyrighted game so we can not, and you can not, distribute it on this site.

If you choose to play the levels included, there are about 2 level sets so far (numerous levels each). Now, I wish to warn you ahead of time, this game can be very aggravating at first and might make you want to "bash" your PSP. Well, luckily Flashmasterfrog released a button mashing game entitled: Button Mashing Revolution, so try that out if you have anger issues from this game!

actually, their are more than two levels in the game. the intro has about eight of them. And the CCp2 one has many levels in it.

» Moderators, please hear me out before deleting my post...

'>DISCLAIMER:

I found the game Chip's Challenge available for download at . This site's downloads are all legal, if any game company tells them to take a game off the site or the site moderators come across new information stating that a game is still copywrited and under production the file is removed and replaced with a link to a web site where the game can be legally purchased. As far as I can tell THERE ARE NO ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS HERE. Feel free to delete this post if I am wrong, I am not the most knowledgable person about things of this nature.

Anyway, here's the page where you can download the file.

» And now, my two cents...

I decided to post my two cents on this game separately because I do not know whether or not my previous post will be deleted.

After testing this game I must say that it is pretty decent, I enjoyed playing it and must thank the pixellatedpoo for porting it. I am an avid puzzle game fan and was actually waiting for a more interesting puzzle game to become available and this one keeps me busy for awhile without taking up too much space on my memory stick. The main improvements that I believe should be made to this game would be cleaning up the graphics a little bit and adding music support of some kind, these additions are not necessary but would make the game more appealing. The only serious bug I found at the moment was the level set selection menu, the white highlight over light grey text kind of hurts my eyes. Perhaps simply adjusting the text color would help in that area.

» Thanks

thepixelatedpoo , thanks for that correction.

I read this: Their are two level sets in their already.

As: There are two levels in there already

I would have corrected this sooner, but the server was experiencing some lag issues at that time, sorry for the inconvinence.

Aryn The Cat,

If I am not mistaken, the website you listed gives the ORIGINAL chips challenge and not the Windows re-made version. I believe this is acceptable, but in the end, it does not help us since it does not contain the chips.dat file that is required anyways.

I have removed the link in your post because the games they have distributed are not all freeware. They only reason why they have uploaded the files is because the production of these games have long since been deceased. I am unsure of the entire legality on this situation at this time and have removed your link because of that, sorry. The Chips Challenge was the 1990 version, which does not contain the chip.dat file.

» Oops!

Well, i really stepped in it this time, thank you for the correction. I apologize if I offended anybody by posting a link to this site.

I just checked the comments section again before signing off and noticed that the link to the site is still visible, I can not find an option for deleting my comments so I would appreciate if the comment referring to that web site was deleted as soon as possible.

» Fixed

Aryn The Cat, I have fixed that, didn't notice you placed the link in so many times ;)

Once again, I love this game as well, but just need to find my old copy of the game somehow to obtain the file, and remember, if you find it, do not distribute it!

» That is odd...

I thought i only posted the link once. Ah well, at least that has been fixed.

» How?

Tried dumping the Chips.dat file from the old win 3.1 MS Entertainment Pack I had archived on a dvd-r (Don't worry; I bought it legally for $25.00 eons ago), and the level set didn't load. Am I doing something wrong?

»

You have to put the .dat file in the sets directory ( or data ) with the other .dat files
