Super Mini Putt-Putt |
Ó
How does one actually code golf games in Lua in one week? Well, you can ask PspFanatic, 'cause he just gave us a little bit of teeing fun in his 'brew, Super Mini Putt-Putt. The game is obviously a tiny putt game with eight holes. And if you're wondering what's wrong with the graphics, err, it's PspFanatic's very first try at coding and design. He promises us that next time, he'll try to work it out with Photoshop. The controls are pretty simple: all you need is to tinker with the analog stick, the X, and of course the Start buttons to get going. The analog stick moves the direction where you want the ball to go, while pressing the X button hits the ball. Start button exits the game.
It's a nice game for a first-time coder, so keep it up, PspFanatic. You guys can check out the game here as it's quite a quick download, too.

Although, I am sorry, but the graphics just can't be like that, even for a first release of a test game. You shouldn't rush in building a game just to see it on the front page or to release it like that. As much as 2D and 3D graphics doesn't really make a difference to me in the matter of how amazing they are (I started playing my PSX a lot lately and mainly games like FF1 and FF2... not the PS2 graphics, but the game is still amazing), you still need to work them on.
Don't forget, you are not only in a competitive world, but also in a world of flamers and graphic whores. I understand the graphical part is not important for now, as it's for first release and it's basically more coding than designing, but it should at least be better than just a couple of pictures, painted with photoshop/paint, and put together in a game. This shouldn't be released as your first release.
Although, unlike other people apparently without education on this blog (which is terribly stupid of them), I will take a further look at the game and see what I can do to help you.
Good luck with the project and keep going at it.

I have not had time to test this releases but I'll take your word for it. We already have a great golf game coded in lua (Pspgolf by LauriN) so I'm not in a big hurry.
