Man! MrMr[iCE] sure works fast! After releasing SnakeSP v6 just yesterday, he's back once again with another bumped up version for his really cool and very popular homebrew game, SnakeSP.

There have been nothing but raves for this game, although, as the saying goes, you can't please everyone. So there are still some who claim that the game is too easy and that it needs a bit more challenge. But I think we can all agree here that the raves outweigh the rants, right? And you gotta admit, SnakeSP is one of the best-looking homebrew games we've seen lately.

If this is your first time to have heard of SnakeSP (although we really doubt that given the game's popularity in the homebrew community), you can check out the video below to get a feel of the game.

Changelog:

  • added music loop
  • added cool water effect in the background grid
  • updated menu graphics
MrMr[iCE] says that he's still working on revamping the interface so we can expect more updates to his future releases. So while we wait for that, why don't you update the version you have in your PSPs right now with this one? All you have to do is...

?

Wouldn't a video from the current version be better than a video from the first version?

easy!!

im a big fan of this game, but while the actual A/V side of things is getting better and better ........ it is far too easy now, if you dont believe me find/download version 4, thats the best version up to now basically because it hasn't got those purple pills in it, so your body never reduces in size...unless you hit it with the purple pills the challenge is gone, i find myself either going on for ever with no challenge, or circling the screen waiting for the non purple pills to appear. i thought the challenge of this game is how long you can get your snake with out dying and thats it come on mrice either get rid of those pesky purples or make them only appear about once evry 5 or 10 minutes or something pls give us the challenge back!!! ps i supposed if you introduce some small maze/walls to dodge aftaer playing for 5 mins that may help instead

This game is perfect.... ALMOST

What incredible graphics, you are clearly a very talented person! I'm looking forward to your future releases. You are a inspiration to developers and a credit to the homebrew community. The game has such a smooth and fluid-like motion it works perfectly with the PSP and it really utilizes the analog stick well. The HUGE problem with this game is the simple fact that it is FAR to easy. I know that i will just be repeating what everyone else has said and also "ranting" as QJ put it but i believe that this is a big problem. The problem stems from the purple powerups, they allow you to loose segments of your snake. Instead of totally scrapping them, just make them extremely rare. So when they do pop up and you have a huge snake it'll be a relief instead of you just tryna avoid them as most people do now. People want to have big snakes... fact, lol. I hope you take my comments and ideas into consideration. Thank you

...

Haven't played SnakeSP due to the fact that I had the Thumbstick going Right with out touching it problem... But I loved to play it soon after getting back my PSP from the repairs... But boy I had a very bad reaction when the Sony supportive shop owner saw my PSP and all it's homebrew then the guy started saying "Are you crazy spoiling your PSP... Blah Blah Blah..." and a seller for MOoed PS2s and so on also I was crazy... But oh well gonna have fun with SnakeSP soon

Too easy indeed.

It is a very beautiful game, with the best controls of any snake game. However, the 2 posters above who said it was to easy are right. I think an addition of levels where the map has obstacles would be more fun. Again, please reduce the purple dot frequency.
