Sound Manager, now available

So, is this like a daily thing now or what? We're starting believe that SnakeSP is sort of like everyone's vitamins and supplements here. It's something to complete your day. So, to complete your day today, we've got another update from MrMr[iCE] himself: SnakeSP v5.

One of the bigger things he's been able to include in this version is a sound manager that loads .wav files from the memory stick that the game uses. These sounds will play when certain events are triggered, and all of them can be customized or changed. Here are the various sound files (where "#" is either 1, 2, 3, or 4):
  • eat#.wav - sounds played when the snake consumes an item on the board
  • die#.wav - sounds played when the snake collides with itself
  • fx1.wav - played when a yellow, blue, or violet item appears
  • fx2.wav - played when a new segment is added onto the snake
  • fx3.wav - played when the score multiplier is increased
  • fx4.wav - played when a red item appears
If you want to change these wav files, just make sure that you use the same (case-sensitive) names as those above. Missing sound files won't work in the game, and just note that the game only supports 8- or 16-bit mono and 16-bit stereo wav files.

» GREAT WORK

I love this game. The only thing that would make it better, is if it could load custom music....from the MUSIC folder.

Great work. Can't wait for future releases :)

» Not at home now...

I'm not at home so I can't try out the latest build of SnakeSP but atleast I have V4 with me, heh heh. Anyway, why didn't QJ post any more changes? Or, is the only change the ability to use custom sounds. ??

Anyway - keep working on this homebrew please - it would be amazing if eventually there was an score upload system so that we could battle for the highest score on the net - however I see that has a rather difficult thing to do and also, cost of web space and bandwidth changes things completely.

Keep up the good work, you'll go down in homebrew history!

» Unregistered Users...

until you register, make some valid points, and generally stop being an ass - he can't fix what you think is wrong - he loves suggestions but not the non-constructive kind

» Anymore updates?

It's been a few days now and I'm wondering if there has been any movement in this homebrew.

The game is incredibly easy now - went back to playing an older version v3 I think.

Although I liked the options that were added - it made it rediculously easy. Need less of those purple food items, my snake is always short - also, there needs to be something else to make it challenging.

Honestly, if you simply put a solid boundary around the edge of the map, it would increase the difficulty without needing tweaking. If you had to manouver around inside the screen, without the option to zip off to one side and back into the other, it would be much more challenging - even for a short - medium snake
