Snake Ported to Firmware 2.8 |
Listed in: Homebrew Games Tags: Noobz, psp homebrew games, youresam
Ó

Ever since Noobz's firmware 2.0-2.8 SDK was released, there's been a slow and steady trickle of homebrew games coming in for firmware 2.70- 2.80. We started with Tetris... Then TIFF Pong... Then TIFF Tron. Now, let's add another one to that list. Youresam just ported Shine's Snake game to a compatible version for 2.80 users and it makes also use of the TIFF exploit.
You guys can download the file below. Inside the .zip folder are two folders: one for the game, another containing the source code. To install and play the game, here's one way to do it:
- copy the SNAKE folder into your memory stick under PSP/PHOTO/
- while the photo icon is highlighted hit the TRIANGLE button
- then launch SLIDESHOW

read the info that was released with Noobz mini SDK. (Just for you lazy people I'll example) Its not that eazy, an eloader is going to take a lot of time for 2.71-2.80 and since Noobz are so kind to use all 2.71-2.80 users get little fun too.
The SDK was released so devs can give some FREE gifts to 2.70-2.80 users. since they will have a long wait for an eloader. already 3 games released way better then nothing.

- Bricks (Breakout)
- Road
- Space Invaders
- The Matrix (created myself)
- Snake
- Worm
- Labyrinth
- Ogre Chase
- TextTris
- Pong
All by myself at hte time being... So far, they all run on 1.5 via an EBOOT for much faster debugging purposes. Than Ill port it over to the TIFF SDK once I find what library to use along with it (gfx.c/h, graphics.c/h, pg.c/h, all use the GU and the TIFF SDK supports the GU). If anyone is interested in testing since Devhook may prove unrealiable as to compatibility, my AIM is: sg57pimp

Now all we need is an eLoader!
PS Any expert developers - Could you port a GBA emulator? That would be awesome! =)

That's a lot... we 2.80 users really apreciate what everyone is doing for us, so just keep working like that, and we will have an eloader really soon.
By the way, good luck with your pack #12.

"hopefully most of you that upgraded have learnt your lesson and wont upgrade anymore "
I come to this site for psp news and realeses. I do care about homebrew, but i care more about real games. Yea people will say that "there aren't any good games" or "i would have sold my psp a long time ago if it wasn't for homebrew" ect. but come on! Are you really going to tell me that super mario ports, bomberman ports, sudoku, and all the other 2d games are anywhere near as good as Wipeout, GTA, Valkyrie Profile, and MGS? I dont think so. I will admit that the emulators are very good (for the ones that are full speed) but i believe i bought a NEW system not a more expensive GBA. I know that people are going to flame me to oblivion, but thats MY opinion and im entitled to it. Its just that im tired of these idiots with 1.5 going "1.5 OWNZ!!!!111 2.8 iS teh SUXXORZZZZ". Yes homebrew is a nice addition, but it should be just that, an ADDITION. An addition to the great games, an addition to a media player, and an addition to a web browser. Yes, if an e-loader comes out for 2.8+, ill use it, but not at the expense of better features. FYI, i have 2 psps one black 2.8 (from 1.5) and one white (jp) 2.71 (from 2.0). So yea when 3.0 or whatever comes out well see what happens to the "scene" when people realize they would rather play a full speed PS1 emulator than waiting for another update for their N64 emulator that work with half the games.

1.) sony limited the video formats and even the format they gave us. With homebrew (PMPMOD AVC) we can encode using the AVC codec @ 480X272 far better then sonys sad limit.
2.) Streaming video need I say more sony lets you buy an over priced streaming server or with homebrew(pimpst reamer) you can stream your videos with no cost.
3.) Streaming music/mp3's sonys rss is very limited as well with homebrew (PSPRadio) we have a great way to stream internet radio. (Sony needs to make some nice free apps since the psp can do so much more then they let it).
4.) Ports - Ports rock and are free and open source. nothing wrong with open source. (Quake1&2).
You don’t understand and have not seen homebrew because of Sony‘s limits. Homebrew is far more then emulators. 5 quick examples

4.) you mentioned Sony’s sad web browser. You know homebrew (link2) has a far better browser.
5.) Ports - Ports rock and are free and open source. nothing wrong with open source. (Quake1&2 / decent / rott / openttd - and many more coming)
6.) PSPToolChain / Luaplayer / Python - learning to code (for some people) is much more fun then playing a new game for a week.
So many others things like devhook emulating Firmware is far better then getting stuck with it. I could go on and on but you don’t care and I don’t blame you, I blame Sony for over limiting all of US.
I could go on and on but you dont care, since you never even got a chance to see homebrew because of sonys limits.
