Quake Multiplayer Update: PSP v2.0

Peter Mackay and Chris Swindle have put PSP Quake under for a major facelift. This PSP homebrew game, which is ported from the original Quake source code plays just like past versions you've played, however the big update today is that in this release, the PSP version now has the network code added, so you can go head to head with rivals in multiplayer Quake.

They have also started a project at SourceForge where the files will be posted when they are updated, you can also download the shareware version of Quake there. Since this is a newly combined version of Quake there have been a few major changes. So far Software rendering, Sound, Adhoc connection, and Infrastructure mode are all supported. Stable on firmware 2.0+ including PSP-PSP & Access point network support (DHCP recommended for 2.5+) and the on screen keyboard (not in 2+ currently). It seems the OSK doesn't finish initializing in 2.0+ Firmware PSP's and Hardware Rendering is not currently supported. The authors note that fast key taps may go unnoticed when the frame rate is low due to no input buffering.

I have a 2.6 psp can someone give me detailed instructions on how to make this work

» Feature Request

First of all, I must congratulate those who program this port of Quake for the PSP, they did an excellent job on this project so far and the potential for other games of this caliber to be ported is what keeps me interested in the PSP homebrew scene.

I have enjoyed playing Quake on my PSP for awhile, but I do have one serious request, I do not care about any other feature but would like to be able to play Quake mods and conversions in the near future. I understand that this may be difficult but I believe that it would drastically increase the appeal of this port.

I press square and nothing happens and i tried pressing select but it just made that ~ sign.... so if someone could maybe post their email or something so I could ask them how to get this working, that would be awsome...

» Confused o.O

Okay, after reading all of the comments I am confused, does it work on 2.6 and where would I find a registered version?

PS> What is the maximum allowable ping rate for the adhoc; does this work on xlink (Kai)?

» Kay...now how about the controls?

I'm still having the same issues on the controls. You can't use the Thumbstick effectively at all. I hope to see this improved in the future.

OK everyone. I have an AIM room up called quakepsp. If you want to join it, then just post your aim names or msg me at DragonwolfLar. I can stay in it 25/8 (if you catch my drift...), and that way we can all have a place to meet, give aid to newer people, and all that junk. I'll be waiting...
