PSP Revolution

Get your dancing fingers ready 'cause here comes yet another mod of the famous PSP Revolution. Concocted by Peter D. and KyuubiDX of Deviant Staff, this mod of DDR for PSP comes with Square Enix menus and songs. It features Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger, and hopefully, the song list will be a lot bigger in the near future. As of now, there are only 12 songs, but Peter D. is positive that he will be releasing Anime Style v5 within a week.

The instruction for installation are as follows:
  • Firmware 1.5: drag the folders inside the fw 1.5 folder into your "ms0/psp/game/" folder.
  • Firmware 1.0: drag the folder inside the 1.0 folder into your "ms0/psp/game/" folder. Then go to the "__SCE__PSPR_SQUARE_EDITION" inside the 1.5 folder and copy all but the eboot.pbp to your "ms0/psp/game/" folder
Version 1 features 6 games of Square Enix with two songs each:
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Chrono Cross
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
  • Final Fantasy VIII
  • Final Fantasy IX
Download: [Square Edition v1]

looks cool

Looks very cool, Sony should release a basic programming language on UMD then everyone can create homebrew!

Err...

What is this game about, actually?

by - 2006-10-03 08:54:17
i like but...

this would be a lot better if it was for the newer versions 2.01+ as well,... but there is something called stepmania which is DDR for the comp check it out, they have thousands upon thousands of songs! http://www.bemanistyle.com/ (songs are under simulation) if there was a game for psp that was like this that would b awsome

Peter is Monkey :P

Hey QJ, im Peter D., and Peter D. is MonkeyBoy1916 :p, so remember it :D. Also, if you would like to play on 2.0+ then just use the 1.0 eboot of the game ad follow the readme on how to install the other files necessary to play, im glad it was finally posted but it wasnt posted the way i thought it would, I sent QJ a tip on it and they didnt use it, they got it directly from DeviantPSP ( The Home Of My DDR Mods )

by - 2006-10-03 15:46:52
bleh

were these even remotely hard?

by - 2006-10-03 15:48:48
Yay

yay!! Chrono Trigger!! What about Kingdom Hearts??

by - 2006-10-03 16:05:48
Yeah

It is hard, im sick of everyone thinking its easy, get off your ass and try it yourself and you will see how much has to be done, and this is only a first release so dont expect a masterpiece, I will continue this one because it seems wanted by alot of Users. Also, dont forget the major part of doing the beats without a generator, Generators always ***** them up so I had to learn from nothing and do them myself, think about that next time

by - 2006-10-03 16:32:16
WTH?

Its good to see that there is some people out there that respect other people's work... And u flamers are just like static was... U don't respect the work of any one! FOr christ sakes gimme a break! Its ok if you don't like it, but there's no need to braing our work down!

by - 2006-10-03 17:10:57

by - 2006-10-03 17:45:44
#18

To #16 & 17

So you guys are the ones that created the game? I want to say to you: THANK YOU SOOOO VERY MUCH FOR MAKING THIS! I'm not sure how many people actually thank you or appreciate your work, but I absolutely love it. I play PSPR about 80% of my PSP game time. I always wanted to play DDR but was never able to get the games, but thanks to you guys I was able to play all the games by using your mod. I really loved the anime mixes and it's sad that you aren't going to be making any more. Have you thought of doing a Lumines version? You know, using Lumines themes and making .SM files for the songs? I'm sure that version will be as popular as Lumines itself. Just a thought. Anyway, thank you so much for making the games and I will continue to download them and promote them (videos on YouTube, etc).

by - 2006-10-03 20:11:46
sync

are the songs sync with the arrows? the anime one sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! the only ones i like are the originals

by - 2006-10-03 21:12:47
what he said

yeah did u actually make the songs have their own arrows n stuff or are u just using the arrows to an already created song (i.e house of pain arrows to one of ur new songs)? i think that it'd be really great if u guys made up ur own arrows for ur own songs. it'd be much appreciated :)

by - 2006-10-03 21:30:54
Have you played them?

To number 22, have you played this version yet? I haven't seen any concrete similarities between these songs and another one before. But I've played several hundred different songs so ones I don't play often I wouldn't recognize if they got recycled or not. Though I do have to admit that many of the songs released in these packs are too easy to beat even on Maniac, I'm not sure if they are just rehashed old ones. Some don't seem to go in sync with the songs, but oh well, it's hard making step files. To anyone who hasn't tried it, it is very hard to make a GOOD step file. I say 'GOOD' because it's easy to throw anything together, but to make one that plays well and syncs well takes a lot of time.

by - 2006-10-03 21:41:39
time is what i have

give the apps needed and ill do it? i will sync all the songs

To #16 & 17

The original PSP Revolution did just fine. If you two made the game, what the Hell are you talking about? No one was even bashing this program above you. Don't whine because some people don't like it, that's part of actually making something. And everyone else wanting songs, there are a *****load of sites, or just use StepMania to create your own, it's very easy.

by - 2006-10-04 11:02:38
Look

I MAKE THE BEATS, i do them myself with no generators, all generators suck ass, as #23 said its hard as hell to get the beats perfectly in sync, I wouldnt have started this if i didnt know how to make beats, I had to learn from NOTHING so sorry if they arent perfect. NONE of the arrows used are from other songs, they are all specifically made for the song they are for, also #24 I dont use any apps to get them in sync, its all done by hand and ears, and if you have no step generating skills than you shouldnt even bother trying. To #20 - Me and Kyyubi only joined for this Mod and maybe for a future one, all other mods like Anime, Nintendo and LocoRoco were mine, i had help from others with grfx back then but with v5 of Anime I wont be needing it. To #21 - Tell me, why did Anime Style suck, what was wrong with it OTHER than you saying the beats are off, NOTHING so just shut up.

by - 2006-10-04 11:38:05
This sucks like all the other packs.

Not hard enough. I could do it with my eyes closed, srsly.

by - 2006-10-04 11:41:57
@ #27

Alright, proove it, get off your ass and try it, then ill laugh my ass off when your back crying your eyes out that you failed, its alot harder than you think to do it on your own without any generator, using a Generator is lame.

by - 2006-10-04 11:44:09
Look at mister big shot #27

i hate to be an ass its not my style... but if u so good why don't u show us then? and btw i spit in the face u pretend to be cool, cool dude

by - 2006-10-04 12:48:29
ass

u guys r ass holes who evr says this game sucks i will kil u u *****ing loser this is a comment by number 11# and thanks peter for answering my response i am a big fan of yuors

by - 2006-10-04 16:09:25
That guy that made the beats...

Dude, calm down. Haha. I mean using StepMania shows NO difference when the leave the BPS at 200 instead of 60. Then transfer it on the PSP. You keep saying, "Using a generator is lame," well if getting your ***** done 50 times faster without any hastle, and having it work perfectly on the PSP Revolution everytime is "lame," then so be it, I'll stick with that. :)

by - 2006-10-04 17:18:09
@ Jin

Ive experimented with Dancing Monkeys, its ok but not as good as doing them on your own, is the StepMania Generator better than Dancing Monkeys, and more in sync?

by - 2006-10-04 21:29:34
Well I'm a Guitar Hero fan.

Guitar Hero got me into rhythm games, not DDR. But since then I've been fascinated with rhythm games altogether, so much that I've been going through generator after generator just trying to find one where I can make my own. I even tried coding in Flash but it was way too complicated. Finally I found Stepmania, and since then I have not even bothered looking for a new one since it's that easy. But when transfering the songs to the PSP, I noticed the BPM would in fact make it go REAL slow. Which is why in notepad, just change the BPM from the standard "60" to "200" (Or higher, depending on how fast you really want it.) But I'm sure you already know all about that. I just haven't found a better one yet so I gotta say StepMania is the best. You can make song after song, after song, after song in one night.

by - 2006-10-05 04:51:06
that's the way

that the spirit.... i knew we could all get along ;)

by - 2006-10-05 08:34:07
