PSP Quake 1.0 with AdHoc - multiplay over PSP AdHoc - Image 1

It's another homebrewed Quake for the Sony PlayStation Portable (following the works of Peter Mackay and Chris Swindle), but homebrew developer kgsws' PSP Quake version 1.0 takes multiplayer a little differently. Known for PSP Hexen, PSP Doom, and PSP Heretic, the PSP homebrew developer added AdHoc support to PSP Quake version 1.0 for more options in multiplayer connectivity.

Unlike other PSP Quake releases, kgsws' version does not come with original game content from id Software, which means you will have to manually load Quake WAD files from your own copy of Quake. Once you've acquired the game, you can simply copy over the entire ID directory from your PC version of Quake into the QUAKE directory under the PSP Quake.

Because this is kgsws' initial release of PSP Quake, there are hitches to be expected. After a quick evaluation over the homebrew game port's infrastructure issues, a quick fix was shipped in an entirely new release. The download package below is this latest version, addressing the hiccups during AdHoc live play.

Also be reminded that infrastructure is iffy at the moment. While some were able to have a PC server and a PSP client connect successfully, some have reported that such connectivity is non-existent in their case. We advise using identical versions of id Software's Quake in order to ensure compatibility, but then you can always wait for the next release of PSP Quake from kgsws.

Please take time to read the bundled documentation for it includes several other instructions from kgsws that will aid you in running PSP Quake v1.0. You won't find it easily though, so hoof it over to the DIST directory under QUAKE/PSP for the elusive readme.
