PSP homebrew game - Ukke - Image 1

The guys at Xtreamlua are on a roll! Earlier we featured Poison_xtreamlua's release of developmental tool ReglePSP, now the developer's back at our forums dropping us a few lines about PSP homebrew game Ukke - a project of Xtreamlua team members milfrousse (code), genevois (graph) and alexel (music).

Personally, I think Ukke best exemplify what homebrew games should be. Not only are the designs unique, the gameplay is like nothing I've ever seen/played before. Just how unique is it? Well for starters the player controls a shuriken (the star-shaped knives ninjas use) which you have to navigate through what Poison calls as "waves". When these waves appear, the player needs to transfer to a new tile to avoid them. Sounds pretty normal? Here comes the best part.

The game is actually composed of two parts. First section is where you select a place where you can create a floor. After that you move to the game's second and main objective, which is to move the shuriken floor by floor without being hit by the waves. Sounds confusing? That's cause it is! And it's actually an added challenge. You really have to try it to fully understand how the game goes. Anyways, here are the basic controls:
  • Cross : "Make" a floor.
  • Circle : Delete a floor.
  • Start : Start the game when all the floor you need are madeLance / bring back to the game when game is paused.
  • Select : pause, and exit the game when game is paused.
  • Arrow : Move the player.
Ukke's got some great graphics for a homebrew game and the music contributes to the its overall trippy feel. Download links are right below so click it and do some shuriken navigatin'!

» nice

This is a very fun game and it is indeed unique in its gameplay.

Only downside is that there's no save option meaning you have to start over every time you play the game :/

If they add that it definitely will climb to my top homebrew games list along with NoGravity.^^

» Awesome

I really enjoy this game. The only thing that I could ask for is more levels. I was really into it, then the next thing you know, its over. I could play this game for hours, unfortunately, I can beat it in 20 minutes.
