The Eric Chahi-developed Out of this World (known as Another World in some countries) may not be the most famous game around, but it certainly made its mark in the gaming community for introducing a cinematic style and feel to computer games. Originally created for Amiga, Atari ST, and DOS platform and finding its way to Mega-CD, 3DO, and Windows later on, Out of this World was able to create a sort of cult following with its groundbreaking graphics, sound, cutscenes, and in-game events.
If you were one of those mesmerized by the game before, or if you're starting to wonder just what made this game a popular title during its release, I'm pretty sure you're now clamoring for it to find its way to this generation's console. Unfortunately, no such thing is being made public as of the moment - but one lucky soul by the name of gawd is able to play with Out of this World on his PSP.
gawd has ported Out of This World to PSP but due to some circumstances is unable to share either the binaries or source of his unofficial, coded-by-himself version of the game. His Out of This World game currently has faulty 16bit sound samples but there's only one logic bug left making it "almost completable". Using his "unlimited bragging rights", he now shares with us some images of his Out of this World port...evil, evil as he perfectly knows we can't get our hands on it.
Maybe we should all start praying now to the video game gods to grant us the same wonderful privilege gawd is enjoying...or we can just sit back and forever envy gawd. Which do you prefer? I'd easily go for the first, especially since gawd leaves us with a hopeful, "I might be able to squeeze out a binary only PS2/PSP elf/iso of the 3DO version".

You can play this game on PSP already, simply use DGen and download the rom.
Please release this port, this game is brilliant!

This already runs from current emulators. Where is the proof that he even ported the game? Beside what a waste of time if he did ported it. I think personally fake and it should be removed until binaries or some proof is released, because this game could be emulated.
you can also play the Atari ST version on the PSP in CaSTaway. It's on Rom FUZCD115.

ok PSP Updates. Stop being such ***** spelunkers and stop falling for fake pictures. WTF. These guys are so gullable. When it comes to things like that. You need a good video to prove it. Not any half ass screen like the mariokart64 video which is actually a DS screen upclose when we all t hought it was a PSP.
ok...i have been playing out of this world and flashback on my psp for a year now because all you have to have is DGEN or SNES emulators and and the roms. I understand that coding is hard, but why is this something i should even care about?
yeah i have been playin on dgen. the game is v good although not quite as good now as it was as a child on MD. but its a lot easier 2 play on dgen is the point. i played it through a while back didn run in2 any problems. sound was decent if u could b bothered.
If you want to play the crappy snes version, it is your right. I only hope you have the original cartridge at your home to be able to get the rom, or even the atari bios...
The man who have program this is a real developper who have given more to the psp/ps2 programming community than you'll never imagine, so show some respect, and search a little before posting stupid things.
The binaries will surely come out one day because Interplay and Delphine software don't exist anymore.
And for those who don't care about it, just shut up.
This game was made by only one man in 1991 and it is considered to be a classic game. It's a shame that QJ is overtaken by 11yo newbies. The day when all developpers will be pissed off with your stupid commentaries, you'll only be able to play super monkey ball and pay for it.

well the pics are genuine i believe, you can see reflections off of the psp screen. that would be one hell of a photo shop job. They arent grainy bad pics, like zombies emu pics.
Could just be still pics and not actual gameplay though.

the game was a true classic in my eyes but i have to agree - without proof this isnt even worthy of a news posting. i mean he says he 'may' release a binary :/ i mean come on - why post this - this at the moment is no different from those kiddies that posted there '2.x downgrader' which of course led to nothing. now its possible that this is different as i have never heard of him but i wouldnt have posted a news untill there was a possibility of a release soon. if he is a well known and respected developer then i shall take this post back but until i see something a bit more substantial it stays.
i want more than anyone to be able to play a great version of the game but after all the lies from the scene i think you can see why i dont trust someone i have never heard of.

...I'd be considering selling the port to whoever owns Interplay's assets now and maybe make a few bucks. Saves them a lot of development time and they can put out a UMD version of it for relatively little cost. Sure, they may not sell a ton of copies, but with so little invested in it, why not take the chance? I'd think it would sell at least as well as the Namco Museum game.

Point releases of emulators are useful information, even for the programs that are released on a daily basis. I am grateful for all the work that these dev's provide. They have given a new lease on life to my PSP.
However, a post that only vaguely describes the compiled utility (fake or not) that allows only the dev to play a game only for his own purposes is completely irrelevant and useless information.
Here's to QJ.net for usually reporting information fairly well (aside from the GTA disc ver ID misinformation and kiddy comments) but for also inflating this guy's ePenis! They should start taking PayPal donations on his behalf for his contribution is so overwhelming, I'm amazed that I can do anything other than bask in the glory that is an unreleased/unavailable homebrew conversion. What utter crap!
If this get's released, I'll be a happy person indeed.
I could play the inferior SNES and/or MD version of the game, but why would I want do that?
I remember playing this as an 11 year old kid, wide eyed and drop-jawed, completely spellbound. I loved it from the slugs at the beginning, to the pterodactyl at the end.
It was the first time I'd seen a game with such a cinematic quality to it, and I'd glady put a decent version on my PSP.
I'd prefer the Amiga or DOS version though

This is probably real. Out of this World, or Another World as most people in the UK remember it from the Amiga Days (Which was the best version btw) Was ported perfectly to the GP32 a while ago, check it out here :- http://www.distant-earth.co.uk/awgp32/

I'm not taking anything away from the guy, but why waste the time in coding something that you can't share. Also like others have said it is already out on the genesis atari and snes. His version may look better but we may never know and it can't be that much better on the smaller PSP screen. Also he needs to show more than just two screens of the thing for anyone to belive him. That's like me saying I have created a gamecube emulator but I can't release it and here are two screen shots no one In their right mind would believe me. And telling people to shut up just because they don't like something is real immature especially in a comments section.

While this guy has ported OOTW, I have ported Quake II, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Doom, Hexen & Heretic....Trust me I did it. I even can show you screens! But I cant release them at this time either. Sorry. Hey QJ...Do a front page story on me.....Ill send photos.

I recently downloaded the PSP UAE Amiga Emulator and "Another World" was the first rom I loaded on it that fully worked...
Will this version be any better...? I guess it will load quicker than on the Amiga :P...
This was one of favourite games back in the day... Now do Flashback...
I am not kidding now! Out of this world (or Another World, as it was also called in Germany) remains one of my ALL TIME favorite games! I consider it the first truely interactive ANIME movie of all time. It's well designed, insanely well animated (it was released close to 2 decades ago!!!) and I still lust for a PC version or DS or whatever.
Come on guys, this and FLASHBACK really ruled the cosmos!
