NetHack v1.0d Released |
Ó

Pawa has released NetHack for PSP v1.0d. NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, and has also been ported to DS, but was originally ported to the PSP by Virtuamunstaz. There are lots of options for you to navigate, and I would advise this homebrew game for those of you that are into puzzle and RPG games. Good news for fans as the PSP version of NetHack is now fully playable!
Here's the changelog:
- Keyboard interface for text prompts (Wishing, naming items, etc.)
- Fixed the bug of headers that would interfere in the item selection dialog
- Added a way to go back up a menu when you've highlighted the last item (and vice versa)
- Correctly fixed to always select first item in a menu if no default is found (was buggy in some cases)
- The context menu has been split into two columns and added many more commands
- Skill enhancement enabled
- Fixed Diagonal movements, added some buttons to facilitate things.
- You can now apply something to yourself or in any direction you might want to.
- You can now apply an Orb (crystal ball), and it will bring out the soft-keyboard to select a single character.
- Enabled engraving with your fingers
- Enabled analog stick for scrolling pop-ups that are too big for display

- Help menu item selection -> Add a "Select all" / "Unselect All" / "Invert Selection" keys
- Remove the perm_lock feature, as it can cause problems on the PSP when crashing
- A contextual menu for the 'Inventory' screen
- Disable calling the context menu more than once.
- Re-enable the top-ten listing when dying or quitting
- Enable Nethack Sounds.
- A PSP Specific menu, to get the time, battery charge, etc.
- Enable custom key mapping (thanks Glynnder and Genki)
- Display the damage made by the player (default to off, thanks Genki)
- Internet high score server and bones servers - Maybe (thanks Genki)
- Mp3 player built in. It gets pretty quiet when playing nethack for hours on end. (thanks Genki and many others)
- Enable PSP help (thanks to Megalodon)

Brilliant release!
this is cool but im lost lol. how in the world do you go upand down stairs, pick up stuff (clifford picks up stuff but i cant), and upgrade/enhance skills? other than i cant get off first level its fun!
The readme was getting real big so I've setted up a website. Go check the 'Button configuration' link on this Website http://pspnethack.zapto.org/
idk if this is the same one i'm running because i've been using one newer then 1.0c for a wile it was a beta of the denzel osk but i'm gonna give this one a go
people really should look at the developers sites more often
This is indeed newer than the two betas posted on dcemu a short while ago. This one contains everything you should need to do whatever you want in NetHack on the PSP.
okay, so l+start saves your game and quits, but how the crap do you load it back up when you open the program again?
ah, apparently you just have to actually remember your character's name and it does it for you. i haven't been paying attention to the names since i'm just seeing all the different ways i can die (like falling into a trap in the first room and getting owned by rats, or summoning a water demon from a fountain in the first room that slaughters you), good to know it actually works though
