A few days ago, gizmo356 released the first version of his Lua-coded homebrew Naruto Alpha. As it's still a work in progress, we were only able to see Uzumaki Naruto moving around a forest. There's really nothing much going on with the game right now but we're all looking forward to updates and kick-ass animation.

While we wait, we can turn our focus on yet another Naruto homebrew called Naruto Fight! As the name suggests, it's a 2D  game that pits one player against another. Nothing new there, I suppose, but developer Ace High claimed that the game will involve more trickery than other traditional fight games.

He explains, "In a two player game player one pulls off a replacement jutsu and his player vanishes from the second players screen and is replaced by an AI. While that AI is distracting player two, player one can jump over player two and start performing a more complex jutsu and blow the opponent away. Player one stays invisible 'till he makes an attack or the replacement is dispatched..."

The entire jutsu system hasn't been though out yet, but the idea is to have each symbol be represented by buttons. Hitting specific buttons will allow players to perform the jutsu (a technique that rely on the manipulation of chakra, involving the use of body energy).

Ace High is keen on making the game true to the series as possible. And with that, we could look forward to seeing many different characters from the series, each having their own unique moves. The developer admits that it will take awhile before the beta version is released, as he has to work on several issues like AI, animation, memory, damage, and overall polishing. It's a long way to go, but I'm sure the PSP community is more than willing to give this guy a chance, and perhaps help shape Naruto Fight! into one hell of homebrew fighting game.

Qj is wrong for taking off the comments in u.p mod chip artical. You guys know your wrog so put back on. Don't be so one way minded. They didn't like the feed back so the put like ps at the bottom of the artical and then took out the comments. Qj will loose alot of faithful reader if they start that. So put the comments back and let us have are word too!

» This could be good

If this is actually finished (unlike many Naruto games) it could be really fun.

by Ace High - 2006-07-16 18:17
» thanks for the comments!

it will definitly be finished although I need some sprite artists to help with all the characters. and the reason he is fighting himself is because that way I didn't have to prepare more sprites at the time. The rason I picked naruto is that I'm more familiar with it. I'm not sure what mugen is could you elaborate. I'll think about it as a game. My brother has started work on a Fullmetal alchemist game.

by Burrito Joe - 2006-07-16 19:21
» Hey!

I have a great idea! Make it use usb so you have to type sentences on the computer at the same time so its like, the better you can multi task the better your chakra control! It's genius. (I Win)

im telling him it will be easier to do scince we have an engine all he has to do is progrma enviorments i would do it but i suck at coding still and he seems pretty good so i would like him to try

by Ace High - 2006-07-16 21:04
» Engine

What my initial intent was was to create a fighting engine in lua that other people could use to create their own games. I'm still going to do this but it will be packaged with Naruto Fight! as an example of a complete game.

hey smart ass did he say he finished this game i don't think so all early versions of games suck ass but i look forward to this anyway.

by Ace High - 2006-07-17 20:34
» thank you

thank you stewie for the reply. I knew the flaming had to start some time. I wish people would take time to read the article. I'd even settle for just the title seeing as it says 0.01 (he obviously didn't read that, wait can he read..........?) I just wanted it out there so I could judge the public's reaction so I could design the game for the people. :)
