Lua Naruto Alpha v0.01 |
Ó

Naruto remains to date one of the most popular anime TV series. Not only has it created a huge following with the Japanese, it also created big patronage from North American fans. From a huge number of fansites, free downloads of fan-subbed episodes of the said anime reached a total of 100,000 downloads in the first week of release and nearly 200,000 downloads just within the first months. As if that's not testimony enough, Naruto is currently making waves with homebrew developers.
Back in January, QJ Forums' KingOfNoobs came up with his first Lua game starring the yellow-haired hero. Just recently, Monkeyboy1916 released a second version of his Anime Style mod for PSP Revolution; and who would grace v2, but the popular aspiring Hokage. Now, another homebrew inspired by Naruto is coming our way via gizmo356.
Lua Naruto v0.01 is gizmo356's first try at Lua. Since this is still an alpha version, there is not much going on with the game - just a movable Naruto sprite (made transparent thanks to help from Vettacrossx) on a forest background - both provided by Shadowblind, whom the author also wants to thank. If you'd rather see an animated Naruto sprite, don't worry - gizmo356 is currently getting help with animation form MasterChafed and next releases (which will hopefully be soon) will see the fruits of this tutorial.
If you're excited about seeing a playable Naruto game, rather than wait when the PSP Naruto will hit American shores, you might want to help shape Lua Naruto by trying this out then leaving your suggestions and constructive criticisms for gizmo356 via the comments section below.

lawl this should b a sweet game but its in LUA =(
another lua.................
^^
is it going to be an rpg?
I'm in the process of making a Naruto game aswell but it's a fighter. I will release an alpha build soon good luck with your game.
hey ace - email me @ papabaz at hotmail.com
i'm also making a 2d fighter in lua and was wondering if u'd like to swap ideas. i've got a decent build already.
what the hell is wrong with LUA?
it is easy to code.
it is quick to code.
it is easy to debug.
it is fast enough for non emulator or other intense processing tasks.
it is easy to learn.
you do not have to write callbacks.
This is just another lua game that will never be finsihed. Usually they get a movable character and a background then development stops. Why don't you all work together and finish a game?
rpgs are just too damn big to code in lua
also, making rpgs is no fun at all
eventually the developer realizes these things and gives up
which is why none of these lua rpgs ever get finished
I'm sick of all you losers that a game is instantly bad because it was made in LUA! Proffesional game companies use LUA to make games / parts of games. Look at GTA on your PSP.. If it wasn't for LUA, it wouldn't have the multiplayer mode...
The people who say "Oh it's LUA, it must be *****." Are retarded dumb *****s. You just heard some coder say in the dev section that LUA can't do as much as C and so think you are being clever by saying it's bad. I'm also getting annoyed with people releasing games that can't do anything yet in LUA because it is making everybody say it is a useless coding language. Also somebody should give #1 a smack, what a retard. Bye
This should be good if he finishes it :) Oh and LUA rox its capable of many things.
Any game made by LUA sucks balls big time. Make your self a real coder and code in C++ you f*cken n00bs. LUA should be destroyed and never used again!
we dont like lua because dont like using the extra LuaPlayer, its just like using an eLoader for 1.5. And you should give yourself a smack for caring about me n00b
@10
You sir are obviously not a C++ coder, and probably you don't know anything about programming at all. A real coder is someone able to know waht they are doing with their language (or scripting language in this case). Many of your favorite applications are not even done in C++, some are done in Delphi maybe even Visual Basic for the hell of it. On the PSP, what's the difference between C/C++ and LUA ?
Both are able to perform the same (in basic ways, in depth that statement is quite different). Both display pictures, both are able to make them moves, both are able to take contols into consideration, both can have sound (with some limitations for Lua, I quite have to admit). But in the end, you sir are just another kid complaining without basically knowing anything.
I do code in C/C++, but why would I bother working 70 hours on a game (that basically I do not get paid for and that guys like you will come and destroy) while I can pass let's say 40 hours on one, get the exact same results in the end (we speak about basic type of games). The difference ? One is scripted, the other is coded.
Here's my recommendation for all of you flamers:
1. Go to school, learn how to read (it's usually Grade 1 to 3)
2. Ask your daddy and mommy to take care of you and buy you some basic programming books
3. When you are feeling confortable enough, ask mommy and daddy to remove the little parental control over their computer so you can lookup for programming tutorials
4. Come back here with a completed game
IF you hate lua so much code it to C++ yourself wait you cant. and a nother thing if you like to use shells you can use that to start the game *****in NooBZ
@11: Using the words I said to you to insult me.. That's REAL clever dumbass. Love from your mum. xxx
OK, so this is just another movable sprite. Not a game, not even an "early alpha". I don't care - so I don't ***** about it. Neither should you. And QJ shouldn't write ***** like this on their front page and call it a "game".
And please take your LUA rants somewhere else.
For the love of GOD stop posting these stupid lame lua games on the front page. All these LUA games suck big time. If you want to be a REAL coder get your lazy a$$ up and learn to code in C++ n00bs.
HEY *****GOT NICE GAME NOT YOUR GAME SUCK *****GOT WHY DONT YOU GO SUCK SOME ***** ON A BOAT YOU *****GOT I HOPE YOUR MOM DIES OF *****GOT!!!
I LOVE LUA SO MUCH IT MAKES MY HEART FLUTTER LIKE A *****ING BUMBLE BEE YOU *****GOT JESUS CHRIST I LOVE LUA SO MUCH I COULD LITERALLY FILL THE GRAND CANYON WITH ALL THE SEMEN FLOWING FROM MY PENIS WHILE I JERK OFF TO LUA OH MY GOD I JUST OH GOD
This is out of control... So immature...
Anyway, I hope the creator will not listen to their flames, and just continue his work to shut their mouths.
Cause when and IF it's going to be finished, they're gonna be the first to try it...
hey YuNg StuNNa,
Just alittle fyi, I think you mean lowser not Luaplayer you run lowser for most game so you dont end up with 1000 lua eboot if you dont want to use lower then make an eboot for the games you play it's not hard.
for anyone that dont know Lua rocks. here are 4 great puzzle games made in lua.
