HexAxis XXI Update #8 |
Ó
For those who haven't keeping tabs on Update #8, features of this version include the 3D menu system and three gameplay modes: Standard (With Preview), Advanced (No Preview and faster), and Quick Run (3 minutes). Also, as promised by timwillhack last time, we get a detailed changelog for this release, coupled with other details from the previous versions.
- Very important updates:
- Fixed very major bugs with the combo / multiplier system getting stuck
- Added Drop combos, Wipe Combos, and total multiplier (all of them added up)
- Added Verification codes which are unique to each mode, score and multiplier to stop cheating
- If you are in a game, if you try to start over it asks if you are sure before restarting
- The further you get in the 2 main modes the faster everything goes
- Advanced mode starts faster than Standard
- Preview line is off for Advanced and Quick Run
- Zipped content is under 14megs! ~18megs unzipped (thats less than the last update with less content)
- Added High Score table with Score, Highest Multiplier and Verification code for each mode
- Added 2 new levels Sleepy Spudgy and Tornado Card (Removed Hippie Tie Die)
- Added Logo and Menu Music
- Added Rotating Level Select Menu with mp3 preview and background / color preview
- Added fonts with shadows for menu and HUD
- New Pause Screen allows you to change the level without restarting or go back to main menu without losing the running game
- A ton of new transitions from everything from the logo to the pause screen
- Much cleaner and readable HUD during gameplay, including keeping the multipliers off unless you have them
- Square button is another turbo button but half way between turbo and regular speed
- If you put a dice down and it resets to the top, you have to let go of down before the dice will move down unless you are holding up
- If you put a 1 down, its bad! The grid will fade out so you can barely see the dice until you put another down, this is meant to screw you up
Now before you download the game, we've got a bit of an announcement from timwillhack:
I'm hosting a contest ending Sept 27th 2007 (my birthday) to see who can get the highest score in Quick Run. Whoever is the highest gets a $50US Gamestop Gift Card or similarly priced international prize (non-USA). Anyone who submits a non-validatable score (via the Verification Codes) will forfeit the contest.

awsome update to HexAxis!!!
It looks really good, but I'm not likin the inverted colors much.... maybe player chosen color schemes for the dice and stuff?
This is the first time I've seen it... it is better than a lot of commerical psp craps out there!
thats cool...my score is a little less than 6,000 in the quick run... : ( ...w/e i don't care, its a cool homebrew though.
My score is a little higher than 50,000 I bet alot of people can do a hell of a lot better.
You made a very great job there! Please keep on creating such nice stuff.
another update to one of my favourite Homebrew games....i suck though
Where do we submit our scores for the contest?
Great update; this has come a long way since its first release. But once it crashed while manually changing themes without saving my high score :( .
@ahh: If you press start in-game you can change the theme.
I'll make a score submission form sometime soon that I'll put on my site. I'll pop a news submission when its ready or something
Try beating 385,298 in Quick Run (132 Multiplier)!
Try beating 385,298 in Quick Run (132 Multiplier)!
It doesn't save my highscores when I exit :( ...
it saves them everytime you get a gameover. It doesn't do it on exit. That is weird though, are you sure you are on the right highscore page? There is 'standard' then hit right 'advanced' hit right again, and finally 'quick run'
It doesnt save for me either... it did the first time...maybe when i loose im suppose to push O to go back or something instead of X to continue or something like that...? i donno ima try later when i feel like playing the game./
I found the error for the highscores. It ran fine running in dev environment using psplink and the local harddrive for the files. Once its on the PSP (memstick) is when it doesn't work right. It is fixed, and I'll be releasing Update 8.1 sometime soon, of which I also added analog support to move the dice.
